How do I take it less personally when people call me names?!

Question: How do I take it less personally when people call me names!?
I don't know if this is overreacting or not but I get very very upset when people call me lazy or stupid etc!. and then when they see me crying and say I'm childish it makes me cry more, and I feel very worthless!. I seem to overreact way too much to things even when people don't really mean it and it makes it worse to realize it! How do I stop being emotionally crazy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thanks for the info!.

So obviously your mom & family members are totally unsupportive of you, which is extremely unfortunate!. If you're feeling emotional, leave the presence of the people who call you names, whether you excuse yourself to go to the bathroom or lock yourself in your room until the emotions pass!. They obviously aren't capable of handling emotions- not to mention mock & descredit you for feeling the way you do, so don't express yourself in front of them any longer- they are toxic & are adding to your sadness !. Only show your emotions to people willing to offer you support!. If you find yourself crying all of the time & continue to feel worthless, you should probably seek professional help!. It sounds to me like you may be suffering from depression!. Best of luck to you & hang in there!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I guess that's hard to answer since I don't know you from Eve!.
I guess for me, in your situation, I would have little trouble letting those names roll off my back, but that's just my nature!.
I hate people who feel the need to put others down!. It makes no sense, and can't possibly do ANYONE any good!.
Next time it happens I would try two things:
1!. Say something - Tell them just how lame they are being for namecalling!. That it is "so third grade"!. because it is
2!. If it is someone you don't really like as a friend, remind yourself that it just doesn't matter what someone thinks, if you think little of them!. Or if it is someone you do like, remind yourself that they obviously don't think too lowly about you, otherwise they wouldn't ever talk to you at allWww@Answer-Health@Com

It seems that you are suffering from low self-esteem and you need to build up your confidence!. Find something that you like to do and are good at and get involved in it!. If you are in school, ask your councilor about courses you can take to build self-esteem!. People are reacting to the way you see yourself so its up to you to change your image!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
