At this point, I don't think that it's worth worrying about thyroid problems on the lithium!. Cross one bridge at a time!. No more suicidal thoughts- that's awesome! Enjoy that wonderful change for all that it is :)

Lithium is an energy "upper", which helps battle the low depression!. To keep your system balanced, you need a little bit of a "downer"- like seroquel!. Lithium can affect the thyroid in some cases!. Which *may* cause hyperparathyroidism!. The common effects of lithium that I recall is that the medication often causes tremors, twitches, strange movements (leaning strongly to the side and/or jerky motions as walking or sitting), and peculiar speech patterns!.

Personally, I haven't experienced the lithium, but have known others that did!. I was in treatment for severe depression- and witnessed the effects of several different medications, treatments and illnesses!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Boy, bipolar is a lot worse than thyroid problems!. Low thyroid, which is what lithium can cause, is easily treated with replacement thyroid hormone!. You can continue to take the lithium as well!.
Just be aware that thyroid problems can happen and ask your doc to check every once in a while!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
