Same drug different make?!
Question: Same drug different make!?
Does anyone else feel 'different' when they take a different make of the same drug!? For instance I am taking the generic form of Citalopram after 6 years of taking the brand name version!.!. and despite reassurance from the chemist that it's not possible I know I feel different on it!.!. is this really all in my mind or have others experienced this!? ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

NO hun!. It is NOT in your head!. They are completely different drugs!.
My son was on depakote and when he left the hospital they gave him the generic version of depakote!. He violetnly vomited for days!. I called the doctor and told him and he said that happens with the generic version of the drug!. It is so NOT the same but insurance companies make you try the generic version first before they will give you the brand name!.
They can reassure you until the cows come home, but they are WRONG and U R right and it is NOT in your head!.
Good luck!. I wish you the very best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it is not all in the head!. Different brands of tablets are sometimes slightly different!. The cost of the same tablet varies by manufacturer, and the cheaper ones are not quite the same as the more expensive ones!.
You should enquire with your doctor!. Sometimes the actual surgery give out cheaper medicines on their prescriptions especially if you live in an area where there are a lot of prescriptions given out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not all in the mind!. I've taken citalopram over 5 years and I felt different too!. I found that to be my most effective antidepressant, eventually sorting me out!. I had tried many others but their effectiveness wore off after about 5 months and I had to change!.
If possible, ask your doctor to prescribe you more than the one month!. Mine gave me it in 2 month scripts so there was less chance of having to take other brands!.
I've now been off my medication for four months and it feels great!. Perservere, and you'll get through it!. I'm proof!.
good luck!.xWww@Answer-Health@Com

Don't think it's all in your mind!. For generics the law is they must have 50% to 100% of the active drug!.
Brand name drugs must have 100%!.
So they really are not all the same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
