Answers:
He is a psychopath, which is defined by a psychological gratification in criminal, sexual, or aggressive impulses and the inability to learn from past mistakes!. Using Freudian terminology, the psychopathic personality occurs when the ego can't mediate between the id and the super-ego, thus allowing the id to run off the pleasure principle, and the super-ego has no control over the actions of the ego!. In other words, individuals with this disorder gain satisfaction through their antisocial behavior as well as lacking a conscience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It started as abuse and betrayal, hinted at by the Joker either being from his father, or even bad friends later in life!.
This caused him to shun personal relationships as he grew older, and eventually, to deny the value of others at all!.
This would have developed a severe case of narcissism, that only he mattered, and getting his way and getting himself to the top, at any cost, could give him meaning!.
What made the Joker unique, however, was that despite his narcissism, he was reflective and darn smart!. He came to the realization, probably while in Arkham, that living for oneself and seeking only your own good does not bring fulfillment or joy in life!. Having already rejected the value of people and love, that left one thing for him to devote his life to-- the furthering of chaos and disorder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

None!. He was a psychopath straight up, but admitted it was the thrill of the chase that did it for him, and like a dog chasing bumpers, wouldn't know what to do with it if he caught one!. He was into chaos purely for its own reward!.
It's similar to the teen who shot his parents and claimed he did it because he wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone!. The Mental Health Brigade foamed at the mouth, tried to diagnose him with all sorts of 'mental illnesses' to explain his actions, but his reason was exactly as outlined!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
