How can I become more social? ?!

Question: How can I become more social!? !?
I notice that I'm getting worse and worse as far as social things go and how I feel in social interactions!.

Once, I felt left out when I was not invited to the movies or to a friends house!.

Now I get stressed out if I am invited somewhere!. A part of me wants to be more social, but another part of me just wants to be left alone!. I stopped going to counseling for my shyness when I realized this four years back, but now I'm thinking I should have just stayed in if I knew my social skills were going to decline!.

This feeling confuses even me- I think about hanging out, and yet I don't want to be bothered!?

But over the past two or so years I've become worst, as I said!. I have begun to studder and run over my words to the point I sound quite dumb when I speak!. Even when I speak to my own mother, I find myself speaking 75% mumbo-jumbo and having to constantly find words!.

And I hate to admit it, but I've composed an imaginary figure that is so unlike myself, though still my idea of a friend!. Perhaps as a result that, though I have several friends, I never had a friend that was close to me!.

I thought about going talking to my doctor about medication used for anxiety!. But then again, I don't really know if should describe my problem as an anxiety problem!.!.!.

I don't know how to properly explain- I'm not necessarily anxious, I'm just having trouble!.!.!.

So, after that long ramble, what are some ideas and things I can do to become more social!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I know what you mean about not wanting to go out and be bothered, but wanting to at the same time!. Most people benefit from social interaction, but it can be a challenge, especially when you're nervous!. I think that you could still benefit from going back to therapy since things have gotten worse for you!. But there are little things you can do!. You're not going to become outgoing over night, or ever really, but you can slowly push yourself to talk to people!. Try to keep up on current events and learn a little about everything - that will help you start conversations or talk about different things that people might be interested in!. You can also act like you're confident, stand up straight, smile, and pretend you are comfortable, it might help you just doing those things physically!. I don't know anything about how to help stuttering, but I'm sure there are tips if you google it, I have noticed I stutter sometimes too when I'm nervous, which can make me even more nervous!. You can also take a class or get involved with something where you have to be around people, but you're also doing something you enjoy!. Like try an art class or something relaxing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to a doctor about the stuttering and the imaginary figure, but don't go on meds!. Don't worry about how social you are!. You might just be realizing that you're growing up and you don't need to be as social as you used to be!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
