Answers:
Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc!.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc!.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level!.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication!. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac!. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings!. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac!. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc!.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced!.!.!. you have that "learned behavior" in your mind!. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this!. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction!.!.!. There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to!.!.!.!.

(i dont know the name, your dr should)!. also xanax works for anxiety some people are different and have different reactions!. if you want a fast acting med for anxiety Nirovam is good!. its xanax but it goes under the tongue and is fast acting!. we are all different and have different side effects!. with the willingness to get better you can do it, its hard it just takes time and knowledge!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have the same diagnosis!.!.!.i am on lamictal and it really helps!.!.!.also buspar for anxiety

before lamictal i was on clonazepam and it worked for a bit and then omg it got horrible!.!.!.thoughts of suicide became normal comfortable thoughts and i went back to cutting again

also on trazadone at night

as for the girl who is on lexapro if it is for bipolar i hope you have something for the mania!.!.!.!.i was on lexapro when another dr thought i was just depressed and it was total heck!.!.!.my new doc saiddepression meds just make a bipolar worse because they bring you up but theres nothing to bring you down!.!.!.bipolar meds stabilize moods and depression meds only fix half the prob

oh and for the asker which form of bipolar and are you a rapid cycler!?

i'm on lamictal!. it's not approved by the fda, which now i found out that drugs don't need to be approved to be used on patients!. it causes like skin rashes in some cases, which i got so i stopped taking it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try tai chi!.!.!.!.or doing exercise of the mind and body!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am on Lexapro, and the first 5 days I was a lil sedated, but after that it had helped me with my depression!. I also have anxiety and was originally on Lametica but that didn't seem to help!. I swear by Xanex, but all it really does is sedate you and make you go to sleep!.

What really helped me the most is mind power!. I am diagnosed as severely depressed with bipolar tendencies, and when i feel the mood changes coming on i really try to focus my mind on fighting it!. What i hate about doctors is that they just want to keep forcing meds down you throat, and therapy doctors do things so by the book that they lose their focus!. But if you can teach yourself to talk your episodes through, its better than any medicine that anyone will give you!. Also i found that praying during those times helps a lot as well!.
Good Luck and hope things get better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A previous answer follows: See section 10, on bipolar disorder, at ezy build, below, and take the quiz, if unsure, and if the results are positive, ensure you get an expert diagnosis from a mental health professional, not doctors, who are much better dealing with physical ailments, and don't diagnose complex disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder often enough to develop any real expertise!.

Bipolar disorder usually involves major mood swings, which occur without apparent cause, and often over many months, or a matter of years, rather than days, as with most people (unless rapid cycling)!. I'd take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements daily, replacing 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements in the winter months, (or, as probably a better alternative to the 2 cod liver oil supplements: 1 teaspoonful of cod liver oil, with a little butter, to ensure its use; I take mine on sourdough rye bread, or toast, covered with fishpaste, and pepper, to mask the strong taste)!. Those people who receive adequate exposure to sunlight, daily, won't need the vitamin D from cod liver oil, but many people, particularly those in latitudes far from the equator, find this difficult, to achieve!.

If you decide to use allopathy, (modern Western medicine) I recommend trying Lithium Carbonate, or Lithium Citrate!. (regular tests are necessary, for these) before trying the other mood stabilisers, but if you aren't good at taking medications regularly, drinking adequate water, and keeping up your salt intake, something else, such as Lamictal, or Depakote, may suit you better!. Check out "lithium" at http://www!.drugs!.com/, and http://crazymeds!.us/ and always research medications first, (read, and keep the labels/information sheets) so you will be aware of the risks, and on the lookout for side effects!. (Personally, if I wasn't bipolar type 1, and didn't experience hallucinations, or serious delusional states, I know I'd first try the orthomolecular, and Omega 3 fish oil supplements, vitamins, minerals; a herbal remedy, and a mostly raw food diet, for several months!. Note: St!. John's wort, and also antidepressants, may cause mania, or hypomania, in people with bipolar disorder!. I'd aso eat in accordance with my "nutritional type"!. Enter that term in the searchbar at http://www!.mercola!.com/

If not considerably improved, after a maximum of 6 months trial period, consult your primary mental health care provider: you may be one of those who need medications to prevent this serious disorder from worsening!. If you have bipolar type 1, an antipsychotic medication may also be needed!. Everyone should take the Omega 3 supplements, or preferably "krill oil" for its other health benefits: use the searchbar at http://www!.mercola!.com/ !. Some people refuse medication, using supplements, and a selective, mostly raw food diet (I do not recommended trying this, if bipolar 1, unless you aren't troubled by hallucinations, or delusional states)!.

Maintain the treatments for the depressive phase, in section 2, at: http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris Some topics in section 10 include: treating bipolar disorder with supplements, vitamins, minerals, and herbal remedies (except for St!. John's wort, which may cause mania, or hypomania)!. As with all medications, there are risks, and the possibility of side effects, which is why I inform people of the alternatives, to see if they can cope sufficiently well, without resorting to medications or, at least use less of them, with their attendant risks, and side effects!. Don't use medications and supplements together, without medical advice, except for Omega 3, which is safe, anytime!.
At ezy build, anger management is addressed in section 4, anxiety; section 6, (see page N first) and panic attacks "dizzyness, cant breath" in section 8!. Check out the bipolar chatsites, and forums in section 10, at ezy build!.
