Collecting items for no reason? ?!

Question: Collecting items for no reason!? !?
My partner (61) has filled every corner of the house with "things" she treasures, but never, ever uses: 50 years old dried paint-set, LP records and k7's from the 60's (but she has no turn table or tape player), broken umbrellas, broken furnitures, spare lights from a car she has sold 5 years ago, unusable rusted carpentry tools from her grand'dad, 20 years old bank statements and air tickets, and, worst of all, medicines out-of-date by more than 5 years!. (As a result, I got deaf for a week, using an outdated ear wax cleaner!)
This covers household goods, furnitures, and even rubish!
She stores in the fridge the two leaves of salad we have not consumed at dinner!. I recently found at the back of the fridge a pot of jam dated 1983!!!
Her youth was not easy, and quite poor: she never HAD anything of her own, she never had education past the 6th grade!.
I am desperately trying to find out WHY she has that attitude, and how it can be "corrected"!. I think that this is leading to very dangerous situations:
- Last summer, she used an out-of-date anti-tique spray on the cat: only the rapid intervention of the vet saved the poor animal!
- She used a wood ladder in bad condition!. It broke, she fell and was unable to walk for a week!.
- and many more small "accidents"!.!.!.
Can anyone guide me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its my non-medical opinion that you might be attempting to take your partners enjoyment away which just sounds a little grumpy to me,
poor cat, but whats more important!? But not being able to walk is serious,
the trait your partner has is not too uncommon, I recently saw a documentary about a man with the same habit of keeping 'everything',
and there was a group of angry neighbours trying to take it all away because they didnt like the look of it, however, people like him make the world interesting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your friend truly is exhibiting signs of "hoarding"!.!.!.NOT an easy avenue to travel upon!.!.!.hopefully you will be able to intervene ever so gradually in assisting her toward uncomplicating her life~ Hoarding is generally characterized by an individuals need to 'hold_onto' whatever emotional insecurities one may harbor! Discovering such insecurities & then addressing them thoroughly can often times reach toward a positive resolve!. Just keep in mind that individuals who choose to hoard with little knowledge 'why' will constantly present a challenge!. Try showing her that many items may hold financial value IF released to others & she reaps the financial gain to assit her with living nowadays!. Gradually introduce her toward 'organizing'!.!.!.with hopes of uncomplicating her life!. I wish you luck, but most of all I wish you extreme patience trimmed with compassion & understanding~ Take care!Www@Answer-Health@Com

She's kin to the pack rat!. There is nothing that you are doing to help her!. You can start by carefully separating by some kind of order her receipts, alphabetical or by date!. And where were you when got up on that ladder!? You could sit down with her and let her explain her memories; do you understand that!? Everything she has is her mind! Corrected!? What are you talking about!? Where are you!? What makes you think that there is something wrong!? The only thing that is wrong is you are trying to change something that should not be changed!. When you come into her house, pick up something you think that is not supposed to be there and ask her about it!. You might get some instructions in humility!Www@Answer-Health@Com
