Well I would honestly tell somone when you are ready!. I don't think you should tell people at your school or a teacher, they would probabl a least force you to see a school counselor and bring your parents in, which is embarrasing!. If you are close to your parents you can tell them and have privacy!. If you do tell them the first thing they would probably do is take you to see a phsychiatrists!. The specialize in people who cut themselves and will probably give you medsto try to see if that will take care of your chemical imbalance that isn't your fault!.
The only time when people want to put you in a psychiatric acute center is if you hit a major artery in your wrists, feet or neck that requires you to be hospitalized for stiches and blood transfusion(not a fun experience), then they WILL put you someplace to get help against your will!. If your cuts are just scratches from a blade or knife but nothing big, the doctor and therapy is as bad as it would get!. Also be careful of who you tell that you cut yourself, such as your friends!. Not everyone can understand being mentally ill and they could blab to someone and embarras you!. It's best to keep this in the family otherwise you will regret it when you grow up!. You just made a first big step in getting help!. You will not be taken out of school and you won't have to go some place to get help to stay!. You have to talk to your parents, a school counselor or another trusted adult!. There are medications that are very safe that will help you and for a while you will need to talk to a therapist!. i wish i knew cause my bf and i used to cut still do once in awhile we just never told anyone and kept it between the 2 of us and helped each other get through it
so if u have a really close friend u could tell that might help or tell a counselor but i dont know what they would do probably depends on the severity of the cutting but i know they would tell your parents
