When do you know when an anti depressant starts to work?!

Question: When do you know when an anti depressant starts to work!?
Answers:
You have to be really patient when waiting for an antidepressant to start working; some work within the first few days (though this is rare), others take 6-8 weeks to work!. When they start to work, you'll start to feel a little more energy, not necessarily a better mood until later!. This is the time when a patient is in most danger and must really closely monitor their moods, because with the combination of the depressed mood but elevated energy, this is the time when they are most likely to commit/attempt suicide!. And this short time period is the pits for most people, who give up because they feel that the medication is not really working!. Sometimes you have to go backward before you can go forward!. And also remember that there is a variety of medications out there to choose from, so if this doesn't work, you can augment it and add another, or you can choose to switch!. Also watch your side effects: if they get to be too much, make sure to call your doctor!. I once had unbearable headaches within days of starting a new med, and I ended up quitting cold turkey because I couldn't take it!. This is not recommended, but if there is more harm than good, speak with your doctor about alternatives!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

For me, I just started to realise things slowly getting easier!. Anti-depressants don't work miracles, you have to remember that!. You still have to work at getting better, they just give you a helping hand!. I started to notice that I hadn't been feeling down constantly, I was generally more relaxed and I was starting to go out more!. I think you just feel that bit better than you did before!.

Hope I helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
