This can be really tough, I know, I've been there!.

Sometimes distraction can work very well, If you're feeling that way, find someone to be with, you don't even have to tell them why, invite them to a movie, or go to their house, be somewhere where you'd be uncomfortable cutting!. Sometimes, even just having someone in the room with you, at your own house, can subdue the urge to cut long enough for it to go away!.

Sometimes when I don't want to be around anyone, but I still want to avoid damaging myself, I'll go for a drive, as I have nothing in my car/ purse to do the deed with!. If you have a car this might help!.

These things don't always work, but they're usually helpful for me!.
I've not found a way to keep thoughts of cutting /burning from coming, just sometimes ways to keep the thoughts from becoming actions!.

Good luck, I hope you find some peace of mind!. Also, if you're already in the mood to cut, try to stay away from music that throws you deeper into the mood, I know at first the music can seem like it's making you feel better, but for me anyways, usually allowing myself to get absorbed into music that enhances the mood has bloody consequences!.

Talk to this person whenever you have the urge to cut!. When you feel like cutting yourself, confide in a teacher, school counselor, parent, friend, relative, etc!. If they don't know about your current struggle, tell them about it and tell them you need their help to keep yourself from cutting again!.

Do not be ashamed to ask for support when you need it, as this affliction affects people from all walks of life!.

Particularly if you are not fully in control of your behavior, there is a possibility that you may accidentally hit an artery and possibly even bleed to death!. If you begin bleeding profusely and cannot stop it, do not hesitate to seek medical care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well I am a cutter, I also have BPD!. I cut to feel the physical pain instead of the emotional pain, cutting is also an accomplishment to me, When I try not to cut I find myself doing things like shopping (I'm only 19 and have about 5,000 in debt already)!. I recently decided to rejoin the gym and hopefully that will help reduce some of my urges to cut!. You can also do things like constant ly being around people (although that doesnt help me) or starting a hobby, or better yet write down how you feel when you want to cut and keep a journal!. What you need are activities to do to keep you busy and distracted from the cutting thoughts!.

My ex-friend used to cut herself quite a lot, and moreso near the end of our relationship!. It is a very difficult thing to deal with, and I know she did it because she was very depressed/upset and had no other activities but stay cooped up in her room all day and night!. (Mind you, I did do my very best to get her to stop but our relationship was already estranged and tangled as it was that there was no way I could help her any further!. She simply refused to see me and cut me off out of her life)!.

So get out there and do something you find interest in!. It will be better for your mental health!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Any habit is hard to break, but there are many, many ways to relieve stress that don't have to be as painful!. Some stress relievers are actually beneficial! In my case, when things get out of control, I sometimes go for a run, late at night when no one else is out, or sit at the piano and ignore the rest of the world!. Maybe something like that will help you! Www@Answer-Health@Com

My dear, sweet child, you need to see a therapist or psychiatrist to get some talking therapy!. If you can find one who specializes in this, all the better!. If you don't like the first doctor to whom you are sent, then complain until you find one you like!.

Resolve not to underestimate the ability to change your life in positive ways!.

Avoid alcohol and illicit drugs, which can make you more likely to engage in self-injury!.

Please get your dear self to a doctor!. You may not need to see him or her often, but it's very important to go now and have that contact set up so you can see him or her again when the impulse strikes!. Also, when the urge does hit, try to get out of the house!. It doesn't matter where you go: shopping, window shopping, a movie, a walk, a vist to a friend, whatever; just get out of the house!. The break in your thoughts that leaving the house will cause will give you some time and space away from the urge!.
