Hi Jack!

I have worked with people with Autism for years and years!.

One thing I have learnt is that you all humble me!.

You have brains that work at the speed of super computers and it is us lesser mortals that need to catch up with you!.

We cannot think at you speed and I guess secretly we must all seem stupid to you at some level!.

We all work to slow you down to our pace because we don't know how to catch up with you!.

Ok so maybe you cannot read faces very well- so what!?!

A lot of self absorbed people cannot be bothered to read faces and we all put ip with them!!

Most of the worlds great scientists, computer whizzes, aspects of show aspects of autism and where would we all be without them!?

You are all our super heroes, so be proud Mr Jack! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Autism is not a disease and nor is it a mental illness!. It is a lifelong condition which cannot be changed!. It sounds like it could be affecting your mental health though, and there's nothing to say that being autistic prevents you from having a mental health problem!. If you're ashamed of it, why not see you doctor and get him/her to refer you for counselling!? You're not ill, you're different, and you're having a hard time coping with it!. Counselling can help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

are you ashamed if you sneeze!? you have no more control over a sneeze than you do over autism!. It is an illness, not something you caused, so your "shame" is not appropriate at all!. Now if you "use" your autism to manipulate people to get what you want, that behavior would be something to be ashamed of!. But not the illness itself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Autism is something you cannot change and shouldn't be something you should feel guilty of!. I have AS (aspergers syndrome) which is on the autistic spectrum of disorders and trust me when I say this that the more you learn about your condition the more you can feel better about yourself, and through talking with friends that are willing to accept you for it!. Is a huge step into feeling accepted in society as of yet researchers, scientists and doctors are still trying to figure out what causes autism

I am also going to put into the whats your source box a few links that would be useful in helping you understand more through social interaction, and knowledgeWww@Answer-Health@Com

and besides autism offers a new look at the world!.
you see think and feel things differently!. Your not the garden variety individual!. You have something unique to offer a different perspective on the world!. I have an autistic brother!. Hes socially a little odd but he is incredibly intelligent especially in the area he finds the most interesting!. Its a trade of gifts he was born with!. And he brings something new to the table in a way that others cant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no it isnt!.
when i was told i could be autistic or somewhere along the spectrum i thought to myself, there is nothing rong with me, there is nothing that actually went rong whilst my brain developed, it just developed differently, just like every one elses, just that it developed in a way that would be classeed as autism or something!. humans just like to class everything, minds vary and you can't always say someone has a disability!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No of course not!
Everyone is different; everyone is equal!. Nobody is the same!. Should you be ashamed that you've got autism!? No, of course not!. Everyone is different and everyone is beautiful!. Every single one of us has at least one thing that they're ashamed of - something theyve done wrong or could have done better on!. You havn't done anything! it's only a word, honey, it's only a word!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, but you should not go around flaunting it!. I have crooked teeth and I'm a bit ashamed of it!. I can't afford to fix it right now, so I can only be myself and know that I've done everything I can!. But at the same time I don't go out of my way to get people to notice i have crooked teeth!.

So in short, try not to feel ashamed (although I understand how it's hard to implement)!. Good luck and take care!

Absolutely autism is not something to be ashamed of!. Would you be ashamed if you had cancer, or a broken leg or heart problems!.

You have a problem and there are a lot of people in the world that have physical and mental problems!. They are not worth less because of their problems!.

Hold your head high and enjoy life!. Set you goals and work towards them!. You might surprise yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No autism is nothing to be ashamed of!. my mum babysits kids with autism and they are a lot more intelligent than most 'normal' people!

dont feel bad about it, there is nothing you can do about it!. I really hope you can get around this feeling ashamed as there is really no need to feel that way!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's nothing to be ashamed of!. you didn't wake up and decide you were going to be autistic!. you didn't ask for this!. these are just the cards you were dealt, so to speak, and there is no reason to be ashamed!.

i'm anorexic and i have been for over 6 years!. i've relapses four times since going into treatment at age 14!. my most recent was very bad physically, but i insisted to my friends i was fine and i was going to college!. i was ashamed i was messing up again!. i didn't tell anyone that my parents sent me to a hospital again instead of college!. i just got back and told a few people and they weren't mean or cruel; they were loving and concerned, proving to me that shame is not an option!.

i know our situations are different, but they are alike with that factor of just feeling so wrong about yourself!. i've had a lot to deal with that i thought was shameful and now i stand up and say, "hey, this is me and i can either fight it and be miserable or be honest and let the truth set me free!."

i hope that this helped!. i hope that soon you won't feel that shame or guilt or sadness surrounding your autism!. i hope that in time you can tell yourself that it's okay; because it is!.

feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you shouldn't be! everybody is born with their own characteristics and special abilities, and no one is perfect! if we were all the same it'd be so boring, don't you think!? try to see autism as something that makes you different and therefore special in your own way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everybody is different for a reason! you are who you are and you should be proud of it!. I am 35 and have suffered from a few disorders through the years and just lived with it!. LIFE IS TOO SHORT do not be ashamed of who and/or what you are!. You will find your place my friend!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not at all! Every person is different from the next!. Even twins have something different about them from their other twin!. We were all made to be different in our on way, and that is the most beautiful thing in the world!.

You are perfect just the way you are! ;0)Www@Answer-Health@Com
