Answers:
In the UK Benzodiazepines are very much restricted!.!. it is almost impossible to get them!. A psychiatrist decides if they are absolutely necessary!.!. and in most cases they will be refused to a patient unless the patient is suicidal or in danger of harming others!.!. that is why I had to return to Canada!.!. because I am in chronic pain!.!. I get my benzodiazepine because they also act as an anti seizure and muscle relaxant!.!.!. as someone explained to you before perfectly well that benzodiazepines are a kind of tranquillizers!.!. ''downers'' to relax'' prescribed in Canada against anxiety mainly!.!. all kinds of anxiety!.!.!. but about 14 years ago the in Britain well known TV show host Esther Rantzen and Charles Linden, a guy who had suffered from terrible forms of anxiety and agoraphobia!.!. he told his story to Esther Rantzen!.!. and he wanted the drug banned in the UK!.!. so because of Charles Linden and the influence of Media woman Esther Rantzen about the dangers of benzodiazepine addiction!.!. this drug is very hard to obtain in Great Britain!.!. I guess available to people in a mental hospital!.!. but not otherwise!.!. I tried to obtain my usual medication there and the doctors refused!.!. so I went back here to Canada where there is no ban!.!. I got mine even prescribed by my family physician because I have a 16 year history of terrible chest pain with breathing difficulties!.!. and would be unable to function in daily life without benzodiazepine!.!. as my diaphragm muscles contract!.!. I had of course a thousand medical tests!.!. everything imaginable!.!. you name it, I had it done and nothing was found!.!. Whilst I lived in the Netherland I was evaluated by a psychiatrist!.!.!. who concluded my problem is due to anxiety!.!.!. so in Canada my doctor prescribed Clonazepam to me also known as Klonopin or Rivotril!.!. the only medication which works!.!. it has a longer half life than most benzodiazepines which don't stay in the blood stream for long!.!. such as for example Oxazepam in the Netherlands is prescribed to children who are stressed!.!. because it's not very strong!.!. Children aged 12 or older and to old people!.!. !.

In Great Britain Benzodiazepines are hardly at all available!.!. unless there is a severe reason!.!.!.

I get mine from my doctor because of the muscle relaxant component!.!. he told me!.!.!. that when I take them it's about the same feeling as if I drank 3 glasses of wine!.!. and of course you are not allowed to drive or operate machinery when taking benzodiazepines!.!.!. on the other hand!.!. there is a massive problem in the UK with teenage binge drinking!.!. which really has gotten so far out of hand!.!. that they get drunk at age 15!.!. someone can always go to the shop for them for a 5 pound note extra!.!. and get them what they want!.!. and they drink all night!.!. one girl at age 16 has not been to school for one year because in the mornings she has a hangover!.!. nothing her mother can do!.!.!. I guess she won't finish school!.!.and have no education!.!.!.

If it's not necessary then other treatment is always better but if a person suffers from severe chronic pain and benzodiazepines help, at least in Canada and USA and also in the Netherlands, doctors will provide them to sufferes unless they come up with a solution to stop the suffering!.!. In my case to go without them it feels like i have a heart attack!.!. and it doesn't ease up!.!.!. therefore if there is no other therapy available which helps, I am getting the medication but in the UK I would not be given them!. not for chronic pain!.!.!. only if I lived in a group home and needed to be looked after !.!. if I was unable to make decisions for myself or really severely mentally imbalanced!.!. they were available in the UK until Esther Rantzen together with Charles Linden in the early 1990's campaigned against it!.!. so now the doctors can't hand them out easily not even if they wanted!.!. only a psychiatrist can do that and unless there is a severe reason!.!. !.they, too won't give Benzodiazepine in the UK!. It was freely available all over Europe until the early 1990's !.!. definitely a ban on Benzodiazepines in Britian because of that nationwide campaign on the Esther Rantzen show!.!.!.since then and of course I jumped at the idea!.!. no more drug taking and I tried out the Charles Linden method!.!. I read all his pillars and re read the whole thing several times and tried to follow all this and believe all this but he managed this way to get out of his anxiety and depression !.!. but I guess he got worse through antianxiety meds and antidepressants!.!. and in the 1980's doctors hoisted them onto people!.!. even without trying some other method first!.!. for Charles Linden the meds made him worse!.!. he spent 8 years not able to work!.!. and he was agoraphobic!.!. he was in hell and his chest pain came mostly at night!.!. during the day he called his fiancee 10 times at work!.!. he was lucky!.!. now he is healthy and married to Elizabeth Linden and they have 2 healthy kids!.!.the Linden method didn't work for me but I sure tried it!.!. here is the man himself and talking about his book!.!. he wrote about his time with depression!., phobias, anxiety of all kinds and even having been suicidal
