Bell & Howell makes a lamp that simulates the sunlight!. It has the same effect as spending time outside in the sun!. It helps me greatly and I also take Wellbutrin XL which is an antidepressant just for Seasonal Affective Disorder!. I keep my light where I spend most of my time and would'nt do without it!. I hope there is something that can help your wife!. She truly is suffering!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you can vacation to any warm place, that certainly helps!. If not, I've read about certain lamps you can buy that put out special light that helps people with seasonal affective disorder!. Doing a google search for light therapy for 'SAD' will come up with many results!. Antidepressants might be helpful as well!.!.!.she might want to discuss that with her doctor!. Unfortunately, living in colder areas makes it difficult to enjoy the winter at times!.!.!.I'm in the northeast, so I understand what she goes through!. Try to do activities together when possible, maybe skiing, ice skating!.!.!.anything fun and distracting!. Good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's caused by the reduced amount of sunlight in the winter months, resulting in low levels of vitamin D3!. The topic is addressed in section 2, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris One treatment is exposure for a sufficiently long period, daily, to special, high intensity lights, ( NOT TANNING SALON LIGHTS, except the safe type, recommended by Dr!. Mercola, below - they have been shown to cause an increase in skin cancer) which you can either rent, or buy!.

The treatment I use myself follows: Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or grapefruit, or their FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice!. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it!. In the winter months, replace 2 Omega 3 with a teaspoonful of cod liver oil, if not getting sufficient daily exposure to strong light ( http://www!.mercola!.com/ SEARCHBAR: enter: "vitamin D", and follow the links near the bottom of the webpages)!. You may need more cod liver oil than me - Dr!. Mercola recommends 1 teaspoonful for every 50 lbs of body weight, but this also depends on the amount of sunlight you are getting!. I am also informed that it is sensible to use some butter on your toast, bread, etc!., to ensure the vitamin D is absorbed; because of its strong taste, I cover it with fish paste; pepper is optional!.

The latter method is much cheaper, but Dr!. Mercola informs us that excessive levels of vitamin D cause hardening of the arteries, so it is highly advisable to have your level of vitamin D tested at least twice, and preferably 3 times, in the first year, and once annually thereafter, in mid winter!. A base level is determined in the first test, then, 6 weeks later, test again to see whether the levels are near those recommended!. A third test, later in winter, is a good idea, as a check that all is going well!.

"So how can you find out if your vitamin D levels are adequate!? Go to a doctor and ask for a 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D, blood test!.

When you get the results, don
