How do I deal with unmotivation from depression?!

Question: How do I deal with unmotivation from depression!?
Hi there,

I'm a thirteen year-old-girl who has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and I'm currently taking Prozac however I've only been on it for a week -- not long enough for the effects to appear!.

Lately, I've been extremely unmotivated which is making my life a little difficult at the moment!. I've been sick with a virus and off from school since Tuesday of last week, but I'm getting better and should goto school by tomorrow or Thursday!.

Now, I have a cumulative, end-of-term project that was due last Thursday for Science, which basically determines my Science mark!. I can hardly do it!. I've written some things on the topic, but I can't seem to get over this block !.!.!. it's like this big, white wall just crash down in front of me and I can't climb over it!.

I also have an art project to hand in and finish, and all the other art assignments!. I haven't handed in ANY of my art assignments, so if I don't get them in by Friday I'll fail!.

My report card comes out on December 2nd, so I really need to do these projects, but I just can't!. I've feel so stupid, and I'm so frusterated and I keep crying everytime I try!.

Normally I'd just give up, but I need this report card to look at least impressive in marks (I have poor attendance) for this certain high school I'm auditioning for!. It's also an art high school, by the way, which is why I definitely need to finish my art assignments!.

Uuugh!. I just feel so horrible right now !.!.!. I feel like life is so worthless, so meaningless!. I feel like I'm hopeless!. I just drop so low sometimes, but other times I make plans for myself like exercising more, and eating right, and doing all these ambitious activities !.!.!. and then hours later I feel like this!.

What should I do!? Should I talk to my teachers!? Should I find some way to get myself off the hook!? If not, what are some tips for dealing with unmotivation, and getting oneself back on track!?

thanks <333Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey,
I'm sixteen years old and have been suffering from depression and an anxiety disorder for the past 3 years but have only just started on medication!.

As I'm sure you know, depression is a cycle!.
There is the depression, which causes low energy and fatigue, which causes decreased activity and neglect of responsibilities which ultimately causes increased guilt, hopelessness and ineffectiveness, which in turn leads to increased depression - and the cycle continues!.

It is so hard to stop this cycle, but it isn't impossible!.
By doing increased activity (this doesn't have to be running a marathon, it could just mean sitting outside when you would usually stay in bed) you could feel more hopeful which may lead to 'improved depression' and in turn greater energy and motivation and then increased activity!. But I know that this seems absolutely impossible with the way you feel!. At the moment, everything just feels incredibly overwhelming and just getting out of bed can take all your energy right!?

But it may be easier to break things up!. For example, if you have to do the washing, breaking the task into smaller components and tackling one component at a time can often make it seem less overwhelming!.
Like this!.
1!. Gather all the dirty clothes into the laundry
2!. Sort light colours from dark
3!. Empty pockets
4!. Set the dials
5!. Add the detergent and turn on the machine
6!. Put the light clothes in
7!. When it is finished move the clothes into the dryer
8!. Repeat this with the dark clothes
9!. As the clothes dry, fold or put them on hangers
10!. Put the clothes away!.

Even having a 2 minute break in between each component may help!.

You also need to learn to give yourself credit!. When you're suffering from this illness, the simplest tasks turn into incredible ones!.
Such as washing your face, making and eating toast, making your bed, fed the cat, went to school, walked to the corner store, answering the phone, watering the garden, listening to a friend etc etc!. Because you don't HAVE to do these things, but you did, and you deserve credit for that especially feeling the way you do!.

I hope everything improves for you!.

I'm supposed to be starting on prozac next week, I hope this medication works unlike the others,

Goodluck!!

Remember: this illness doesn't have a physical body form, you do, you are stronger than it!. Even though it may not feel like it right now!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Shut up and go workout!. Or eat some chocolate!. Then do your damn homeworkWww@Answer-Health@Com

First, who prescribed Prozac for you!? If it was just a regular GP (doctor) and not a Psychiatrist/Psychologist, I strongly suggest you see a counselor as soon as possible!.

Second, Prozac has been found to promote suicide in teens and it was recommended teens not be on this drug!.

Third, if you were suicidal or diagnosed with a mental disorder should be the only reason why you should be on meds!. And even then, with the idea of a time to be evaluated to be off of them!. Meds and counseling should have been prescribed together, not just meds alone!.

Make sure your parents know how you are feeling and tell them to see a good counselor to have you evaluated right away!.
