How can I get myself to sleep better?!


Question: How can I get myself to sleep better!?
I struggle to get to sleep!.

I used to be a really good sleeper, my mum and stepdad always make me come offline at a time now and are now restricting me from reading a book to help me get to sleep, lol!

Any advice/tips!?

I should be able to sleep better tomorrow, since I'm going out somewhere!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Always go to bed before midnight and make sure you get 8 hours of sleep, no more no less

2!. Keep your bedroom on the cool side

3!. Do not watch tv or be on the computer 2 hours before going to bed (the screens overstimulate you optically, although you don't notice the "flickering" your eyes do!.

4!. Drink 6-8 of warm milk

5!. Don't eat chocolate after 6pm, don't exercise after 6pm

After 30 days of following the above you will being sleeping 8 hours and feeling refreshed!. (Yes it takes you that long to unlearn bad habits)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Relaxation exercises:
Scrunch all your muscles, contract all your muscles, your eyelids - everything, and inhale!. Then exhale, relax your muscles, and think or even say "relax" - all at the same time!. Do this for ten minutes and you'll feel great!.

After a feel you'll be able to tense all your muscles and relax once and be relaxed - as long as you keep up the practice in private!. After a month or so you'll be able to THINK "relax" and be relaxed - as long as you keep up the practice in private!.

OTC Meds:
Go to the pharmacy, and get Melatonin in the largest milligram dose you can!. NOT, I repeat NOT MICROgrams!. Take the recommended dose two hours before you want to be asleep!. It works nearly every time!. One pharmacist told me only to take it for a month, then take a month off, (so that your brain doesn't stop making that chemical itself) BUT I have found no such warnings anywhere else!. If that doesn't help, I have used Unisom - and that worked well for me!.

Finally: Make sure you're mattress is still good, flip it over every six months!. Make sure the temperature is good!. And get a sleep study - you may have a disorder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you drink caffiene!? I've had to limit mine to noon or before!. The light from tvs and computer monitor can mess with your sleep hormones!. I would try taking a warm bath or shower, and maybe a light snack!. The one thing I still struggle with is just have your bed for sleep: no watching tv or reading in bed!. My downfall is my laptop!. I can sit on my bed with my laptop for hours!. I can tell a difference when I don't do that!.!.!.I sleep much better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If I'm not tired enough, Sometimes I'll do some exercises until I'm Sleepy, but you can also take Valerian root!. They're natural herb pills that make you sleepy, with no addiction to them or side effects !.After a while they start to lose effect on me, but by then I'm sleeping fine!. And if stress is keeping you up you can also take st!. John's wart during the day!. This is what a pharmacist told me and it worked great good luck, I hate not being able to fall Asleep!

"Good" sleep comes with good habits!. Regularity is key, that is, go to bed and get up more or less at the same time each day!. Don't expect that sleeping a lot more one night will make up for not getting enough sleep the rest of the time!.

Your parents are right - as a general rule, things that involve a screen (TV, computer, Nintendo, etc!.,) tend to "excite" your brain and makes it harder to fall asleep!. Reading OTOH helps to relax you, so will doing some yoga (not strenuous exercise-that'll wake you up) or taking a warm bath!. Don't use pills - they'll do more harm than good in the long run!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have trouble getting to sleep, so I do deep breathing exercises, and try to relax, I usually read and it makes me sleepy!.!.!.!.but you are not allowed to read!.!.!.!.so try listening to earth sounds, (cd or tapes) soft music, and practice deep breathing like see if you can count slowly to 10 while drawing in your breath, hold 10, then slowly release counting slow to 10; then start all over again, I usually fall asleep before I can do it 5 times!.!.!.!. same as self hypnosis!.

Exercise during the day to make yourself tired!. Don't drink caffeine or eat a couple of hours before you go to bed!. If you cant sleep then just listen to an ipod or something and close your eyes!.!. you will probably drift off eventually!. that helps me!.

i had this problem about a month ago!.
do not resort to sleeping pills!. or only as a LAST alternative!.
for many reasons i am saying this!. just try to get off the computer earlier each day and SLOWLY go to sleep an hour earlier each day!. That trains your brain to get on a "sleep schedule"Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know this sounds weird but!.!.!.lettuce!.!.Make a salad (with more lettuce ofcourse) Or just chop lettuce and add sum salt an a little oil!.!.!.Lettuce is a sleep inducer which means that after u eat it, u'll feel urself sleepy an u'll find yourself dozin off!. I suffer from insomnia an lettuce work wonders!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A great way is to have a really nice warm bath with any herbal bubble baths!. You can also drink some Horlicks; my mum always tells me to drink that before I go to bed if I don't feel sleepy!.

and just shut your eyes and think about things that have happened, for example fun days out you have had

make sure your room is dark
