What is the difference between dependence and co-dependence?!


Question: What is the difference between dependence and co-dependence!?

I would say the diff is you are dependent on someone else for your well-being, whereas co-dependence is dependence by both parties!.

Dependence is the state of relying on or being controlled by someone or something else!.

On the other hand, co-dependence/co-dependency is a relationship whree a non-substance-abusing partner or family member enables the other's substance abuse!.
Codependency is often associated with alcoholism but it is a common problem in any emotionally addictive relationship!.


P/S: Failure to get past power struggles is a major reason many relationships fail!. If the struggle is rooted in codependency, it takes awareness and strength to break free!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dependence is something you need to rely on whereas, co-dependence is who you rely on for something!.
