Well coming from someone who was on anti depressants along with other medication!. I would have to say no!. My experience and symptoms only worsened!. I took myself off the medicine and I am doing great, I am more positive and happy!. It's the fact the doctors, society, family and friends don't consider the main reason for depression!. It's that more than likely when someone does not like their surroundings, environment or situation they are involved in they will either do one of two things!. one being change it or two be depressed about it and do nothing about it!. Changes!.!.!.You wont see any changes for at least 4-6 weeks with the medicine you are on!. The medicine will either keep you more calm or worsen your symptom!. The numbness your panic about because your body just is not used to it too often!. Lack of energy and motivation is an anti depressant side affect!. I hope this helped you out a more!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

So you are taking an anti-depressant for anxiety!? I dont know about that!. I have anxiety too, and I take Xanax!. I find it works well for me, especially when I am really stressed out!. But rememeber that Xanax is a benzo, and sometimes you can get addicted to it!.

Also if your medicine isnt working you should really talk to your doctor about trying a new medicine!. I know this gets irritating trying different meds, but you will eventually find one that works for you!. Along with anxiety I have bipolar mania, and I have tried tons of meds until my doctor finally found the right one for me!.

A new medicine should start working after about 2 weeks!. So if you arent feeling better after about a month on the new med, then you should again talk to your doctor and try something new!.

Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

"but i dont really notice a difference!. besides my head feels blank and i feel numb!."

That's what they do!. They numb you out until you don't care that you're depressed!. So, actually, they ARE working!. It's just that no one ever told you that they would take away a lot more than just your anxiety!. They'd also take away most everything else going on in your mind!.

For some people it's worth it!. They get used to feeling numbed out, and as an alternative to their mental health issues, they decide to keep going!.

But it's up to you whether or not you prefer to feel numb!. I personally don't like them, because the feeling I get is very similar to the feeling I have after I've been smoking pot for a long time!. Basically, all anti-depressants are is another mind-f*ck!. And I quit drugs to get away from that!.

I find that therapy will do a lot more good in the long run, and you don't have to pay for it with your soul!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are several classes of antidepressants and they all work in different ways!. The thing is with depression is that it's hard to find a root cause for it and so treating it is like a hit and miss thing for doctors so what they usually end up doing is trying one medication and if that doesn't work, then trying another, and then another, and then another!. Side effects are also a common complaint!. Talk with your doctor about it, express your concerns and about what HAS worked!. And ask what your other options are because there are definitely other options!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Anti depressants are really helpful!. As you realise, you have already seen some good effects, however you also seem to be experiencing some side effects, so go and have a talk with your pharmacist for advice!. Also a visit to your doctor would not hurt, as they may change the type of medication that you are on, or even the dosage!. Anti depressants will do you more good than harm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

antidepressant are one of those medicines that can take a couple of months to kick in!. sometimes you can feel worse before you feel better!. if you are worried that this medication is not right for you, go and talk to the doctor that prescribed them for you!. they will be able to judge whether you feel this way cos the medication hasn't had long enough to really get going, or because you need to be on something else!. I think they are like a crutch to lean on!. The handicap is still there, but you are able to swing on the crutch and get around!. My girlfriend e-mailed me an article a few weeks ago that shows that bananas really helps with depression!. I would say eat up a lot of fresh fruits including bananas!. Find things to do that you really like doing!. Take a walk!. You will be surprised to know that if you just walk out and meat up with someone, even a total stranger and start talking, you will find that you feel much better at the end!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So far I've taken 3 antidepressants!. They all worked for me but I was having bad side effects, that's why I had to change twice!.
It takes a few weeks to feel any effect and if you are having bad side effects or the prescription isn't working you should tell your doctor!.
None of them made me numb or lacking energy, my side effect was physical!. Uncontrolled shaking, mostly in my legsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, they have been useful for me!. I had to try a few different ones before I found one that worked!. I take Celexa and Klonopin for the anxiety!. For a month or so, I was extremely sleepy, but it wore off!. Good luck and stay strong!Www@Answer-Health@Com
