I think that when you talk in your sleep, you are in dream time and you are so into your dream that you are actually using your vocal cords and saying out loud what you are saying in your dream!. Although most of the time it comes out a mumble, and not understandable!. Have you ever been around a dog that is sleeping!? And while he is sleeping his legs actually start moving, and he will make sounds in his sleep!? That's the same thing, he is so into his dream that physically he is doing what he is dreaming about!.
