Do you think i have an anxiety problem?!

Question: Do you think i have an anxiety problem!?
I always get extremely nervous for really dumb reasons!. When i get nervous about something, i can't sleep the night before and get up throughout the night because i can't stop thinking about it and i get stomach aches and get really hot!. Sometimes i will worry about things 2 or more weeks in advance!.

Here are some recent examples:
About a month ago i had a scrimmage for basketball!. It was just a scrimmage against your own teammates but it was basically just a meeting to tell the parents about the season!. The scrimmage was at night and i ended up worrying about it the whole day!. While playing the game i felt like i was going to puke the whole time because i was so nervous and i played horribly because i was so nervous!. I also get really nervous and get stomach aches right before regular practices so i can't even imagine what i am going to feel like before my first real game (which is on monday and tuesday)

2 days ago i went to a music competition for band!. The night before the competition i woke up 4 times and i felt like i was going to throw up every time i woke up!. Right before i played one of my music pieces my hands got extremely sweaty and i did horrible on playing it!.

This one is a little ridiculous! haha
Today i am getting confirmed for church!. I got up 3 times last night and had a stomach ache the whole night!. I just got worried even thinking about it!. Getting confirmed is definitely not something i should be this nervous about!.

Okay, sorry that was so long! I am just really tired of worrying about little things all the time, so please help me!!! What is wrong with me!?! I am 16 by the way!.

Thanks

Answers:
You definitely might have anxiety!.

One of the biggest signs is experiencing physical symptoms when you are nervous!. I suffer from it myself, and i usually get sweaty palms, and sometimes a tingling sensation!.

My suggestion is to ask your parents to take you to a mental health center!. Try to find one that will do an assessment prior to recommending a treatment!. You may find out that you just need a little counseling in order to learn some de-stressing and chill techniques!.

In the meantime, when you get nervous (i know it's difficult) but try counting to 10 taking deep breaths, and then try and focus on something else!. Or write down what's bothering you and then put it in a locked box!. Visualize that locking the box locks your fears away!. It may not work the first few times but if you keep at it you might find it helps!?

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yep anxiety it is but just try to take it day by day til you can cope with it on your own!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!.!.!.I suffer from the same thing!. you shoudl talk to your doctor about it and they can help you out with the best method!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I personally do not believe you have an anxiety problem!. When I was in school, I was a three sport letterman, I was the lead baritone in the A-Choir and I also was in the student council!.

I'll tell you, every time I had to do something in front of a crowd, I REALLY got nervous!. Before every wrestling match, for instance, I went to the bathroom to "get rid" of my butterflies!.

I remember one time I had to give a speech in front of the student body!. LORD, I was so nervous that I forgot to look at my prompt cards and flubbed the speech horribly!

Even though everyone told me how beautifully I sang, I was always SWEATING when it came time for my solo performances!.

I look back on these things now and laugh!. Eventually, I sang in a band for 5 years before beginning my working carreer!.

It took me only one conversation to get over my nerves!. Know what it was!?

A teacher told me that if I weren't talented, I wouldn't be put in front of everyone to perform, and that there are LOADS of students that would LOVE to have my talents and be able to do the things I was able to do!.

After that, I realized that everyone watching me, whether wrestling, playing ball or singing, WANTED me to do the best I could and if something happened that it didn't turn out too well, they would still support me and would always be happy that I was there doing something they could'nt do!. People LIVE through others that are trying to do things they enjoy watching!.

For example,

Do you sometimes imagine yourself in the place of some actor or performer and what it feels like to be that person!? Well, others do that with you!.

So be proud of yourself and just gain a little confidence!. That's all it takes, and the "anxiety" will subside!.

est of Luck,
