Seasonal Affective Disorder and Diet?!

Question: Seasonal Affective Disorder and Diet!?
I live in Alaska, so developing S!.A!.D - Seasonal Affective Disorder - wasn't a huge shock!. I have an appointment set for the next week, so I don't need any ingenious remarks about 'talking to a doctor'!.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had things that helped besides medication or light lamps!. Such as - Did certain things in your diet help!? How about increased exercise!? How about food or exercise that worked best with a certain treatment!? That responded badly with a certain treatment!?

Do not answer if you're basing your information off of 'Well, exercise releases endorphins, so it should make you feel better!.' I know these things, I don't need medical hearsay!. I just want personal experiances!.

I know not everything works the same with everyone, but it's still interesting to know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, I am a therapist, and I know you dont wanna hear my medical talk, but I also suffer from SAD, and I try to stay away from meds as much as I can, I usually do more talk therapy, but theres not much talk therapy for seasonal affective disorder!. So what I usually do is use alot of flourescent lighting!. Diet definately helps and it helps if you try fruits that you would normally eat during the summer!. I am not sure if you can find them in your area at this time!. I live in Pennsylvania, but we still do get the fruit its juat a little more expensive!. I feel like if I eat watermelon, or kiwi, or pineapple then it does make me feel lik its summer, and although it sounds stupid, It makes me feel better!. Also exercise does help for me, I like to do exercise videos, like the ones where you see the women working out on the beach, like the stretching ones, and stuff, nothting too crazy but stuff like that!. I have to say though that the one thing that works best for me is going tanning in a tanning bed!. I dont like to do it alot because its not great for your skin, and I dont even do it to get tan, it just makes me feel like im in the sun, and it helps so I do it like twice a week for 15 minutes a time!. I have to say out of everything that the tanning helps me the most because it just reminds me of summer!. I hope this helps, I left my doctor talk out, as much as possible!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

My experience is to put my ipod on sit back in my lounger and relax for a couple of hours and it works works wonders!. The light thing never worked for me!.
And just a suggestion, but your question comes across as highly sarcastic and arrogant!. like an attack before anyone can actually answer!. I'm not saying that as an insult, I'm just saying you'll get more and better answers by wording your questions a little less abrasively!. Although I know it's frustrating sorting out the know-it alls!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I always suffer with S!.A!.D!. each Winter and my diet gets weird!. I just don't have the appetite to want to cook anything and tend to eat lots of toast, cereal and drink tea excessively throughout the day lol Sounds weird, i know!. I tend to sleep a lot and have never really been to my doctor about it every time apart from the once!. Therefore, i just think it's that i will always have some depression within me because of my illness!.

Change of diet a few times never really helped at all!. DANCING DID! \O/Www@Answer-Health@Com
