I need some advice about being Bipolar and getting medications.?!

Question: I need some advice about being Bipolar and getting medications!.!?
This may be a little long once I finish typing my situation but any feedback at all would be GREATLY appreciated!. I'm a 17 year old female and for years I've been thinking I have a type of Bipolar disorder!. I've been doing research for years about it and all of the symptoms I experience daily seem to perfectly fit the criteria!. I mean, sure teens that are growing up are over-emotional and "go through alot" but I just feel like in my case it's really possible that I am Bipolar!. All throughout my life I've always acted alot more mature than my actual age, so most of the things I experiance are true problems, not just some drama I completely blow out of proportion!. My moods change drastically 5 to 6 times a day!. In my "Manic" episodes I can be happier than ever, I don't stop talking, I make poor decisions, and I just seem to get irritable very easily and in the "Depressive" states I feel sad, lonely, and I pick out any possible thing to just be upset about!. I've abuse pills and alcohol and I used to cut!. Which, I've been clean from the cutting for 2 years so that's not a problem at all anymore!. And I've been trying to cut down on my pills and alcohol!. I have drastically but from time to time I still have my episodes!. I'm just sick of this and I'm tired of it effecting my life and because of my moods I just feel like it's effecting my performance in school, home life, and relationships wth other people!. But I'm not sure if I should bring it up to my parents!? or try to make a doctors appointment at all to figure this out!? But the reason why I'm writing this is because I have taken adderall since my freshman reay, but only around finals time to study so I could focus, and they work extremely well!. The last ones I bought for my finals about a week ago I REALLY like!. They are a blue and white 50 mg pill!. What I like about them though is when I take them my BP symptoms completely subside and my mood is very positive all the time while keeping me calm at the same time!. They aren't like regular adderall and they kick in and start allowing me to focus only when I really need to!. I'm wondering if the problems I'm having is die to ADHD or if I'm bipolar!? Why do these pills make me feel great and keep my moods stable!? Should I try to get prescribed to those!? I'm really not sure what to do!.!.!.!.but I wouldn't take the adderall everyday, since I don't want to get addicted to it!. I would only want it when I really needed it!.!.!.!.but I'm not sure what to really do!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Self medication is never good!. You need to go to your parents and explain to them why you feel you have BP and have them take you to your family doctor, who can refer you to a psychologist/psychiatrist!. I suffered for years with BP, been suicidal, depressed, and ended up an alcoholic, finally got clean about 3 years ago, went to counseling, and now have a totally positive attitude about life!. BTW, this year I was diagnosed with terminal cancer, but have refused to let it bring me down!. I am down to just taking lexapro, which is a mild anti-depressant!. Get some help, whether it is bp or ADHD, let the professionals help you

Im Bipolar 2!.!.!. and i can tell you that if you can learn to control your emotions and gain some discipline you won't need Meds!. I hate medications of all kinds (Save cough and cold meds :) )!.

For almost two years since i was booted form the Marines for my disorder i have worked very hard and controlling all of my emotions!. Its hard, and requires alot of work!. It also requires that you learn to deal with it on your own!.

I workout when i get Sad/ Depressed the Rush of endorphins helps alot, when i get to worked up i will run it out of my system!. I have certain people i can talk to, or i just sit in my room and think, making sure to let someone know where i am and when to check on me!.

This system has worked for me for almost two years, one episode was unavoidable when my friend died!.

People don't seem to understand the severity of this disorder!.!.!.!. its quite sad!.

Good luck Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is seemed that you have rapid cycling BP!. It is often superimposed with the history of AD HD in the childhood!. BP is a biochemical problem in the brain!. So you should take medicines as mood stabilizer!. BP can be cured in few years of therapy!. Whenever you take adder-all, the medicine will raise your adrenalin in blood level!. But self-medication is no good and it is easy for you to get abuse or addiction!. I suggest you:
* tell your parents about the mental conditions
* ask help from a professional
* be patient and continue in having consultation
* be optimistic that next time will be better
