What should I do about my severe depression?!


Question: What should I do about my severe depression!?
I've been very severely depressed for 2 years now, and I don't know what to do about it!. I don't get any help from the people around me, because when I try to tell them anything, all they do is call me a liar and a freak!. They don't understand what's going on, and I'm not asking them to!. I just wish they wouldn't ridicule me!. I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a psychiatrist, and that never helped me before, anyway!. Medicine doesn't work, therapy doesn't work, nothing works!. I've tried and tried to figure out how to help myself but I never do!. Every day I think about grabbing a shotgun and pulling a Hemingway, and I don't care if that's selfish!. It would be worth it to know that the people who ridicule me and are making me suffer, will be suffering too!. Due to my depression, I went from A's and B's in high school to mostly C's and D's, and I even failed an entire semester!. I graduated on time, but I could never get into the university I'd been dreaming of since middle school!. I'd planned on enlisting in the Air Force for the college benefits, and also because it's something I'd be proud of for the rest of my life!. Now I would never survive basic training because of my pathetic mental state!. I'm worthless and contribute nothing positive to society!. I just don't know what to do anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hear ya!. It is a hell!. It happens to many and is no joke! The truth is that most people don't know they are messed!. You are one of the lucky few who do know something is wrong and wants to do something about it!.
There are things you can do to help shift the balance of your life in favor of being yourself again!. None of them are guaranteed because everyone is different!. And none of them are about the act itself!. They are about doing the act because it may open some doors in your mind and soul for you to step though and start feeling better!. If you are lucky the "feeling better" will increase intuitively!.
Here are some general things that you can check out:
Watch what you put into your body!. The reason is that everything a person consumes affects them!. Maybe you changed you diet and didn't realize how it affected you!? Just keep your eye on what you consume!. Stay away from bad stuff!.
Go for walks!. Exercise is good for the mind and walking is great exercise!.
Read a good book instead of doing TV or Internet!. In other words, tone down the "noise" you have no control over!. A book is always there!. You can pick it up when you and put down when you want without any pressure!. It is yours, You own it!. A great book is The Shack!. It has helped some people get in tune with some basic thoughts and beliefs about life!.
Get enough rest!. It seems that every year doctors are making new "rules" as to how much sleep people should get!. Ignore them and get as much rest as you need!.
Make an appointment with your regular doctor for a physical!. Tell him you have been feeling depressed and just want to be checked out!. For all you know maybe you have a physical illness!.
There are web sites that talk about depression and give some suggestions!. They also give free tests for you to check yourself out and maybe see how things are going one day to another!. !. A couple sites give instructions for family and friends on how to interact with depressed people!. When I was critically depressed I printed out the instructions and gave them to my family!.
