Question about valium (diazepam) tolerance?!

Question: Question about valium (diazepam) tolerance!?
I used to take 5-10mg doses of valium to help me sleep but having built up a tolerance to these amounts, am now needing at least 20mg-50mg doses to get the same effect!.

If I stop taking the valium, how many weeks/months before regular doses such as 5mg-10mg will become effective again in helping me sleep!.

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The trouble with all drugs used to 'aid' sleep, is that they all make matters worse!. Tolerance is inevitable!. The result is that whatever you do within a few weeks you end up not only only getting off to sleep 20 minutes earlier, but also only sleeping for no more than an extra 20 minutes more than you did pre-medication!.

This makes the whole thing pointless, so you would be much better trying to get away from night sedation all together!. Ask your GP for help, hopefully he was no misguided enough to be prescribing these for you in the first place!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably best to check with your Doctor - But I wouldn't advise just stopping the diazepam!. Especially as you are now taking such large doses!.
I also was taking 20 mg of diazepam to help me sleep and knew I should try to cut down!. I did this VERY GRADUALLY but still suffered side effects!.
My best advice is - consult your Doctor on the best way to manage this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

who ever put you on the drug, would be the only one to lower them,
go an see who ever it was gp, etc, and ask if there is any chance that you could lower them,

it would take you about 6-8 weeks to do it,
and you would have to put up with the side effects, from withdrawal!.

due to it!.

the reason your body cannot take 5-10mg, is that your body has rejected it, that's why!. at that doseage!.

do not expect too much to soon,

it will not happen over night ,

plus you sound like you are addicted to them,
that can also happen to them!.

probably your problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You shouldnt come off it cold turkey as it were, best to talk to your doctor about your concerns, he can then start reducing your dose or review your medication!.
