How can you convince someone to take their medications?!

Question: How can you convince someone to take their medications!?
She doesn't like to take her asthma meds because of the side effects but now she is wheezing all over the place!. Should I tie her down or something!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Maybe talk to her doctor about switching meds, if she refuses to take them, they will do her no good!. There are so many different meds available for asthma these days!. Some with side effects and some without, depending on the severity of the asthma!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with the first answer!. A different medication with less side effects is your best bet!. Your friend may have to try several medications to find the one that has the least side effects for her!. Another idea: Google long-term effects of untreated asthma!. That might help convince her!.

One sad truth about the human condition, though: it's almost impossible to change the behavior of another adult!. Think how hard it is for you to change something you want to change about yourself, and then add to that the near-impossible burden of convincing someone else to change his or her behavior!. For good or for ill, adults make their own choices, and anyone who tries to change someone else's behavior is usually in for a Sisyphean task!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If this is a child, talk to the doc about alternatives!.

If this is an adult, it's not your business!. If she chooses to wheeze rather than suffer the side effects of the drugs that is her choice, not yours!.

All medications are a matter of risk vs!. benefits!. I take one drug twice a day that can cause blindness and another one once a day that can cause lymphoma!. I choose to take them because the benefit of controlling my systemic lupus and having a productive life is worth the risk and I am regularly monitored for side effects!. But it is my choice, no one else's!. And no one can "convince" me to take something that I have decided I do not want to take!.

It is her body, not yours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most medicines have side effects, like weigh gain, weight loss, headaches!. Maybe there is a different brand of asthma medicine she can try, or a lower dosage!.My medicines give me dry mouth,( which I hate)!. It's sad to say but, that's how medicines work!. Maybe as she's taking her medicine you can talk to her and try to distract her!.
Hope this helps

get the meds in pill form!. crush it into a powder!. then mix it into ice cream or a milkshake!. we do that with our daughter and it was approved by our doctor too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I really do sympathize with you, but you really can't make anyone do anything!. Whatever happens, it's not your fault!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
