Anxiety/Panic Attacks/Depression... is there hope?!

Question: Anxiety/Panic Attacks/Depression!.!.!. is there hope!?
I hate to sound like one of those people asking questions with a slew of different conditions but unfortunately I'm no exception!. Up til 2 years ago I was a happy, energetic, and optimistic person!. After experiencing several unfortunate circumstances I suddenly started having panic attacks!. I thought it was something that would go away with time but I was mistaken!. Now I have them several times a week if not every day!. I avoid going out which has led to depression!. I exercise, I've changed my diet, cut caffeine out completely, but still I feel imprisoned by my condition!. Now Ive noticed myself thinking such negative thoughts like I'll always be this way, theres no hope, and whats the point of living if this is how its going to be!. I dont mean to sound emo at all!.!.!. I dont like how I feel, believe me!. I want to change and just "having good thoughts" isnt enough!. Have any of you overcome/successfully managed your panic attacks!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First of all, forget about "sounding emo"!. It's a really dumb term that kids throw around!. If you have anxiety and depression, you are not following a fad, you are suffering!.

Second, you need to see a doctor to get an idea whats happening!. Don't be ashamed of it, its more common then you could imagine!. Most people never acknowledge they are ill, and just get worse, start abusing drugs and/or alcohol, and waste a lot of their life!.

You will probably need a combination of therapy and medication!. Many people say you can manage with exercise and good thoughts!. If you can, start doing some exercise and yoga!.!.!.and possibly some meditition!. But in my experience, an antidepressant will really help you, wheather it is something you take for a while, or for a longer time!.

The side effects kind of suck, but anxiety and depression can ruin and even end your life!.

Finally, anxiety and depression can be symptoms of bipolar too!. Make sure you are honest with your psychiatrist when you see one!. Have them look at all possibilities!.

You mentioned you were "imprisoned" by this!. This to me says you need to seek some help!. You cannot manage this alone when it reaches this point!. It can and many times does get a lot worse, and can ruin your life!. Or you can face it now and not let that happen!.

Please do something!. Make an appointment with a psychiatrist tomorrow!. You will feel better just doing that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest talking to a counselor or a therapist who can really help you!. I find that I'll think I've healed myself, that I'm all better, only to cycle back into depression and crash and burn!. Then, sure enough, just before you reach the point of no return again, you manage to pull yourself back together!. I seriously suggest just skipping all that and getting advice from someone who can give you ideas on how to handle the stress and anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you seeking medical help for your conditions!? It sounds like with the events that made you start having panic attacks you may have picked up post traumatic stress disorder!. Psychotherapy along with antipyschotic drugs are VERY effective in helping this condition!.
I urge you to go see a psychiatrist, or even just your family doctor for starters!. The exercise and diet is a good start, but sometimes there are things that are out of of control, and with counseling and medication we can get back on the right track!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes! It sounds like you are in need of some medicine to help out with a chemical imbalance!. You are doing a lot of the right things, but sometimes you have to go another step further!. With meds and even counseling, you just might be able to completely conquer this!. But don't wait!. After 2 years, you need the meds!. They take some time to kick in, too, but you will be so relieved when you finally get some relief!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine seem to come and go!. I had one so bad that I had to go to the emergency room because I thought I was going to die!. I know what you are facing everyday!. Cutting caffeine was a good choice!. You might also want to cut out a lot of meat (especially red meat)!. Find some new hobbies!. Exercise when you are feeling down it raises serotonin levels and releases endorphins!. I really hope this helps!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is light at the end of the tunnel!. I used to have panick attacks and now i hardly ever have them!. It required a lot of work on behavior modification techniques, lots of meeting with mental health professionals and medication up to this day!. Don't give up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're having any kind of chest pain with this as well, you might go in to get checked!. My mom started having the same things you do, as well as chest pains, and they actually found it was a problem with a micro valve in there!. Good luck in solving your problem!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you considered antidepressants!? They do a world of good for me!. I would be an anxious jittering mess without them!. I would talk to a therapist about your different alternatives!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dont put up with the panic attacks ask your Doctor for a percription of Paxil it will help you and when you feel yu no longer need Paxil just quit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to a therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My dad lived with a panic disorder the entire time I was growing up!. Agoraphobia!. In college I discussed this disorder with my psychology teacher and he said that you can teach yourself new behaviors to over come this!. Recently my oldest brother, who has a really stressful job started having panic attacks!. I think some people may be prone to this sort of thing but I think with help and time you can over come it!. Try not to be so hard on yourself!. This isn't an easy situation to be in!. It's difficult but force yourself to continue with life even if it is difficult!. Keep trying and seek the help of a good Christian counselor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately it cannot go away completely!. I've had this problem for years from bad memories from the past and bad memories are very hard to forget which will make you depressed by just thinking about them or even still make you cry!. And stressful situations like a lot of work, a lot of noise or even people will make you want to shut yourself out from everyone so you don't have any panic attacks from it but you will never overcome anything if you shut yourself out from it!. Try at least talking about all of your problems to someone that will listen to you to help ease your stress little by little!. And you can try doing work at home now and then!. Or you can try something you like doing like reading a book or watching a movie or even going for a walk to keep your mind off things that will make you upset!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will be two years ago this January that i had the first of oh so many panic attacks!. I went to the ER 3 times and they did every test in the world on me and said i was fine!. I didn't believe them!. I still have trouble believing them!. Everyday of my life i suffer through mild-severe panic attacks, and i would give anything in the world to stop them!. When i first started having attacks i didn't leave my parents house for almost 2 months!.!.!.except to go to the hospital!. I went to cognitive behavioral therapy, regular therapy, i started taking zoloft and other meds like kolonapins (spelling!?) The kolonapins just relaxed me so i wouldn't violently shake and hyperventilate!. The zoloft I think really did help for a while my attacks slowed down but they still happened and i didnt feel like myself!. I just recently went off all meds and i've been having more attacks but i think the only way to deal with them is to go through them and try to desensitize myself to them!. I don't think panic is anything that can ever be "cured"!. I think it's something that we just need to learn to deal with!. I highly recommend learning as much as you can on the disorder and search online forums to talk to people who are feeling the same as you!. As much as you feel like no one could ever understand how it feels (trust me that's how i am) there are people out there just like us! I'll end here but one last word of advice don't resist them!.!.!.when you feel an attack start coming just let it happen!.!.!.i know this is really hard to do and it may not hep at all but I think if you keep trying it might start to help just a little bit!. Good luck to you! if you would like to contact me more about this let me know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The great thing about panic attacks is you don't have to manage them by yourself!. They are extremely common and there is incredible medication for them!. It won't take visits to a psychiatrist as your regular family doctor can and will prescribe them for you!. It may be good then to see a therapist!. The goal would be to overcome them completely without the assistance of drugs, but there really is no time frame on such a thing!. Hang in there!.

Update

Follow up to one's post below me!. Don't underestimate the importance of a healthy diet and exercise!. This really goes a long way!. Great advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's absolutely possible, but simply thinking your way out of it won't work!. The best approach would be to mention it to your doctor!. He'll evaluate the symptoms & determine if medication would help you!. Also, talking with a therapist helps!. You can get affordable help from your local mental health center!. Once you start the path back to your 'normal' self, you'll wonder why you waited!. It's perfectly normal to feel this way & want to be out of it yet unable, so don't feel bad about not fixing it yourself!. You wouldn't expect the same of yourself for a physical thing!. The sooner you get to the doctor the faster you'll feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
