Do I really have psychotic depression?!

Question: Do I really have psychotic depression!?
I wouldn't have thought to ask this until about a few weeks ago I started having hallucinations and paranoia again!. Almost everyday I see or hear something strange!. The other day I saw a message flash across my computer screen that looked like it was written in dust!. I even went as far as accusing my roomates of writing something on my screen!. They turned off the screen and showed me that there was nothing written in dust!. It took me a while to realize the message wasn't real!. I've also been hearing things like a doorbell ring when there was no one at the door and cell phones beeping when there was none around!. The stuff I've been experiencing is not limited to the above descriptions!.

It was weird because this time I wasn't really feeling all that depressed!. I may be depressed and not know it, but I cannot be sure!. I heard that psychotic depression is usually diagnosed if the person has psychotic symptoms during a depressive episode!. I don't really care about the label as the most treatments drug treatments are the same anyways when it comes to psychosis!. I'm just curious that's all!. So I'm not asking for a diagnoses from Y!A as I'm actually looking for personal experience stories!. So if you could be of help I would appreciate it!.

Note:

I just recently seen my psych and told him all of this so he increased my risperdal from 3mg to 4!.5mg!. I am still and will continue to take my meds!.

Peace!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It honestly just sounds like you're exhausted!. Completely over tired!. That can cause you to feel the way that you've been feeling and see things that aren't there!. It doesn't so much sound "psychotic", more like you really need a break, a weekend "off the grid" maybe!.
If you can, take a day off from work or school, avoid the computer and cellphone [this usually makes you go into anxious-mode since you're always anticipating a call or message] and just relax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Delusions and hallucinations are not a symptom of major depression in a majority of cases (I speak as a counselor in mental health who has also suffered from depression)!. Some of the most common symptoms are anxiety, social isolation, feelings of helplessness, suicidal thoughts, overwhelming fear, problems with sleep, oppressive sadness, inability to function in your daily routine, and lack of ability to concentrate!. I am not trying to diagnose your problem - your symptoms are serious and you need to be seen by a professional!.

You will feel much better quickly if you get the support you need!. Please talk to somebody soon - talk on the phone at least with a counselor at your county mental health center or somebody from the Mental Health Association in your area!. I know it can be difficult to get the ball rolling, but you don't need to suffer or see things get worse by procrastinating!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
