I'm 17 and I believe I need therapy... how can I make an appointment alone?!

Question: I'm 17 and I believe I need therapy!.!.!. how can I make an appointment alone!?
I've been struggling with depression for a few years but generally keep it under wraps but it got to be too much!.!.!. Over the summer I would lie in bed for days and I had to quit my job because I was so miserable and unmotivated!. Then Junior year started and I didn't do the extra curriculars I had before and just went home to sleep; I wasn't motivated enough to do my homework, clean my room, join clubs, even dress properly!. I use to be the 'funny girl' but many people have commented that I'm just not anymore!.!.!. I barely talk!.

My mom kept complaining and told me to stop acting like I was in a coma and I told her that I really wanted to see a therapist!. She said okay, that she would get referrals!. But this was in September!.!.!. I reminded her last week and she got annoyed and said, "can't you just talk to your friends or something!?"

I don't know what to do because I'm failing two classes and dying seems like no big deal to me!. I am NOT suicidal, I just have no desire to live and its freaking me out!. What can I do!? This depression has been going on since I was little!. I really want to see a shrink and sort out my problems, possibly get an anti-depressant!. But I need to do this without an adult!. Can I!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know where you are, what country, city, province whatever!. There are ways to help, and you need help!. Yes, you can do this without an adult, but what services are available to you depend on where you are!. You can contact me through Y/A and I will try to find out what is available!. Hold on - there is help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

go see your regular Dr and explain you need a referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist for an evaluation, describe your ongoing symptoms!. Most physicians can allow a person your age to sign their own medical billing sheets and if you are referred then insurance should cover it!. Will you be able to pay the co-pay!? Talk to your Dr!. good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I dont know which country you are from but in the UK your healthcare matters stay private and confidential as long as you are over 16 years of age!.

So as you're 17, you should be able to keep it from your parents!. Beware of any mail that comes through the post which might be related to this!. this has very almost blown my coverWww@Answer-Health@Com

oh honey, you need to talk to someone like your counselor at school and have him/her talk to your mom about what is going on!. I am not sure if you can do it alone with the cost and such and you are not of age!.

I know how you feel!.

Please do what I said!. I hope you feel better!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they can help you at school!. Talk to your counselor there and see if she can make it happen!. Therapy is all about the "click"!. If you don't connect with the therapist, don't give up, try someone else!. FYI: a therapist or psychologist cannot prescribe medication!. Only a psychiatrist (a medical doctor) can do that, and very few of them do therapy!. So--you may need two different appointmnets!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

not at 17!. but you can call your regular doctors office and get a referral from him/her!. then let your mother know that you have the name of some one to go to!. depression is very common in this day and age!. it should not be an embarrassment to your parents for you to go see one!. and it is also nothing to be left untreated!. it will not go away on its own!. it will only get worse!. talking to your friends is going to the wrong source!. you need professional help!. if she still won't take you then have her go to your regular doctor for an appointment and have your regular doctor talk to her about it!. what does your dad say about all this!. he may be your strong point in all this!. Many Blessings to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
