Should Xanax and AmbienCR be taken together?!

Question: Should Xanax and AmbienCR be taken together!?
I just got prescribed AmbienCR yesterday for problems sleeping but I have been taking xanax for a while too!.!.!.prescribed by the same doctor!. The AmbienCR is 12!.5 mg and the xanax is a very low dose only at !.25 mg!. I forgot to ask him yesterday if I should take the two together because I usually take the xanax at night (I've been on it for a while now)!. I did not take it last night because I was afraid too and I tried calling my doctor today and had to leave a message with his nurse and it is 3:00pm now and I still have not heard from her (his office closes at 3:30 on Wednesdays)!. Does anyone know if the two will react badly together!.!.!.I do NOT want to OD!.!.!.Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would make you more tired, at least!. Call your pharmacist if you don't hear from the doctor!. Pharmacists are trained in drug actions and interactions specifically!. From what I know personally, xanax and ambien both can cause memory problems, so does not sleeping!. I use melatonin and it has helped me so much!. I no longer take xanax and I sleep better than ever!.

Here is a link to an article about sleep disorders/insomnia and gives information on Rx's and supplements, and other information:

You are correct to be concerned about this!. Your dose of Xanax is actually a normal dose, they range from 0!.25mg to 0!.5mg normally!.

Ambien and Xanax taken at the same time will have an effect of increased central nervous system depression!. This could potentially be a dangerous interaction!. With the doses you are taking, I doubt that it would be life-threatening, but you really need to consult with your doctor about it to be sure!.

You can also ask the pharmacist who fills your prescription, they are qualified to discuss the drug interactions as well, and they may be easier to talk to than your doctor if you want an immediate answer!.

Just to be clear, I'm confirming that you should check this out, I'm not telling you that you absolutely should take the pills together or not!.

Take care :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
