Yes i believe that all teenagers do go through this, some more than others!. It's to do with body changes occuring in such a short space of time and hormones etc!. Eating a well-balanced nutritional diet and drinking plenty of water should help to ease the imbalances you're suffering!.

On a psychological level, you are going through the transition from child to adult, trying to find your own identity and where you fit into the world!. That's why a lot of teenagers dress the same and get swept along with the crowd as they are scared they won't fit in!. It's also a time when it friends are seen as family and it feels important to impress them as much as possible to keep in with them!. This makes it difficult for them to discuss their feelings of depression because they don't want to be laughed at, seen as a freak or discarded from their circle of friends!. Most of them will be feeling exactly the same even if they don't admit it!.

Plus there are usually power struggles going on between you and your parents!. It's as though you're a fledgling ready to leave the nest but your parents are too cautious and still see you as a child who needs a lot of care!. It's difficult for parents to allow their teenagers to become independent because they fear for their safety or fear that they will make the same mistakes they made themselves!.

It's important for teens to be encouraged to be themselves and experiment with their identity even if that means feeling like they're different!.

I went through depression all through my teenage years and used alcohol and any other distraction I could find which of course only held off the sadness temporarily!.

It would be good if you could find out about any kind of mentoring scheme in your area or youth activity groups with supportive adults!. The adults who get involved in those sorts of things tend to have gone through rough times themselves and can relate to teenagers and offer good advice!.

Good luck and just remember you are definitely not alone! xWww@Answer-Health@Com

I do believe that every teenager goes through this!. It could be because of your body, hormones, and life changing and sometimes these changes are hard for teenagers to adapt to and cope with especially if they are drastic!.

My experience, I was very depressed the first 2 years of college because of losing almost all my old friends and being so far from my bf, and even when he came to the same college as me when i was in my second year i was still depressed and I entered into counseling for the entire academic year!. For the most part I'm better now, 20 yrs old so not exactly a teen but still going through some stuff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well

when i was 15 one day i just woke up and cried all the time for no reason, my life was great i had friends and such!.!.!.!.

but i just had this feeling that i had no point to me, i was no way near suicidal but i just kept thinking!.!.!.!.whats the point to everything!.

i used to be a silly fun person but my mum noticed that i had red eyes all the time, i used to cry when i was in the shower so nobody would hear!.!.!.!.she said i wasnt myself, i didnt want to do fun things and i started to sleep an unusual amount, my body ached and there was no reason for this all!.

i just used to lie on my bed, i looked at a book or my sketch pad and just couldnt bring myself to do anything, i just used to 'think' too mch about everything, questioning every descision i made!.

i thought i was being lazy or stupid but my friend confided in me saying she thought she was depressed and i realised that she had the same symptoms as me!.

i never told anyone which i should have done, but i felt kind of empty sometimes that nothing fun would come from any activity!.

but it toned down as the year went on i gradually stopped 'thinking' too much i still cried but now i had a friend to talk to which made me feel like i wasnt the only one

now i know of a few people who have had this and sometimes its because of family issues etc or like me a chemical imbalance!.

its a confusing time for anyone and unless you confide it just becomes harder!.!.!.!.!.!.

hope you realise you arent the only one etc etc, because its not your fault depression is much much more common than you think!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I was a teenager, I hated everyone!. I would get in countless fights with my little sister, to the point of hurting her physically!. I told my parents that I hated them!. I felt that I was always angry!.

But it passed!. I am out of my teenage years now and all of those feelings have gone away!. Its just hormones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
