Answers:
A therapist is required to keep things confidential!. However, if you are under a certain age (depends on your state), a therapist can talk to your parents if you become a danger to yourself or someone else!. That's generally the rule!. If you are a danger to yourself or someone else, confidentiality can be broken for safety reasons!. Example: You could go to therapy and say I want to kill myself, and the therapist will usually talk to you about it and keep it between the two of you!. However, saying I will go home and kill myself will force the therapist to tell someone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Confidentiality is the basis of a trusting relationship between the client and therapist!. The client needs to be assured of privacy, it is a law just as it is with the rest of the medical field!.
However, with an admission of 'harm' such as suicide, threats to others or self!.!.!.it is a legal obligation of the therapist to report these thoughts, admissions, or plans to the proper authorities to reduce the chances of the client actually following through on any of themWww@Answer-Health@Com

Confidentiality cannot be breached from outside sources because the client/patient contract and relationship!. If a patient has broken the law or has caused bodily harm to an outside party or is planning to then the confidentiality can be interrupted to protect the public and client!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because some people want therapy without other people knowing they are having it!. They may be afraid that family of friends would treat them differently if they knew they were having therapy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
