Am I the only teenager out there who's absolutely terrified of growing up?!

Question: Am I the only teenager out there who's absolutely terrified of growing up!?
There's absolutely nothing scarier than that!. Like!.!.!.I was just thinking about it and my heart almost stopped and my eyes glazed over!. GAH!! Who else feels this way!? Who can give me a little piece of mind!? Anybody!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, you're not the only one!. For the last few years I haven't been able to see myself beyond about twenty-three or four!. Even thinking about twenty-five makes me anxious!. I don't think badly of people over twenty-four, I just don't want to get that far!.
I think it may be because I used to have my entire life planned out, but since I was diagnosed with depression and left school, I've been panicking because every day I seem to get nothing done, when before I was planning on becoming a hot-shot lawyer by the time I was twenty-eight!.
Maybe you're concerned about the responsibility you'll have to take on as an adult!? Take comfort in the fact that nearly everyone will struggle at some stage, and all you ever need to do is ask for help, and I'm sure it'll come!. Growing up won't happen all at once, and it won't be like a test!. You'll make mistakes, the world will keep turning, and you'll wonder what you were so concerned about!.
You'll find as you do get older, it's not nearly as stressful as you think it is now!. You need to stop stressing, because otherwise you'll waste all of your time worrying about the future, and not enjoying the present!. And then you really might regret getting older!.

Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know, it's hard to think that someday we'll wake up and be 30 - haha! I'm still caught off-guard by the idea myself, especially as my high-school graduation nears!. But the thing i always remember is that life doesn't stop once the teen years end - rather, it just begins!.

Think about all the oppurtunities that "growing up" brings - first love, marriage, travel, careers, etc!. Life is in your hands once you hit that spot after teenage-dom, and although that can seem scary, it's also exciting! You really get to experience things as you get older!. And more importantly, things will last!. As a teenager, nothing is permanent - everything is conastantly weaving in and out, wrapping and then unwravelling - friends, choices, likes and dislikes - but as you become more sure of yourself, as you start having experiences that shape and mold you, you can start to really embrace life, and start living by your standards!.

I know, it seems terrifying!. There will always be something blissful and alluring about being a teenager!. But that doesn't mean that the rest of life isn't something to look forward to!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

**** no!. I am 27 and still terrified of growing up!.

All I can tell you is that in 5 years, what is important now will seem like the stupidest ****!. And your problems then will seem insignificant in 5 more years!.

The best advice I can say: make good friends and keep in contact with them!. And take some pictures of dumb **** to laugh at it when you are older!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

man, I am old!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel the exact same way, granted, my eyes don't glaze over and my heart beats at a steady pace when I think about it but just the thought of finishing highschool, then college, then getting a career and living on my own is the scariest thought for me!. I don't want to grow up!. I wanted to stay in elementary school forever but I couldn't do that as you well know!. I know that it's not as bad as we think it will be!. As many people said, take it one step at a time!. If you have questions about the future or life talk to your parents or some other adults you like!. Get their input about how they felt!. I'm on your side that it's the scariest thought, but it's inevitable!. There are many things to look forward to in the future though!. Being married, having children, being able to travel, my favorite: designing/decorating your own house!.!.!. and if you think about it, the list goes on!. We're probably more scared of paying the bills on time, divorce, illnesses, separation from friends!.!.!. blah, blah, blah, but you have to look at the positive things!. I'm sure we'll both be okay!. But at least now I know that someone is as scared as I am!. I thought I was the only one!. Everyone around me is so excited but I feel just fine being young!.

REMEMBER: positives:
marriage
children
travel
own house
own money
happy career
!.!.!.!.!. and goes on and on

Take it one day at a time, you don't need to "grow up" over night!. Things come in little pieces and each of those things adds to the growing process!. I'm 30 and married and still don't feel like a real grown-up, so its not that scaryWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm freaked out about it too; I start college at the end of August, and I have no idea what I want to do there, or what I want to do after college, or anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You don't have to be terrified, just do it at your pace, one day at a time!.
