What is wrong with my friend?!
Question: What is wrong with my friend!?
At school , we have this group about 6-7 people and we all get along great!. We sit a lunch together at school and everything is fine!.
But when we try to get him ( he is in the group ) to go out with us( outside of school ) , he ALWAYS turn us down!. He never goes with anybody else , and he has always been known as the shy kid!. We and a few other people are the only ones that can have a conversation with him!. Also every time we ask him why he doesn't go out with us he responds with : I know i need to and he usually just shrugs !.
He's not LD or anything he is just a average person once you get to know him!. He was in the gifted program when he was younger until he just didn't care anymore!.

It could be a form of social anxiety!. I think it's best if you're jsut there for him, instead of trying to put a label on things!.
Try not to question him everytime he declines as it could easily increase his anxiety about the situation and make him feel isolated and abnormal!. I think it's good you've asked him why, and make sure he knows that if he wants to talk about the reasons, you will be there to listen, but don't bring it up everytime!.
Maybe you could suggest going to his house or your house out of school hours!? This would possibly feel like a safer enviroment to him and make him feel more at ease with the situation and more able to deal with the social anxiety!. Don't suggest a big group goes over though, just you, or you and one or two others at the most!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Myabe he just doesn't wanna make any friends!? He might just feel comfortable and happy just standing with you guys!. Thats how i feel sometimes!. I don't wanna talk i just wanna be surrounded by my friends :)

Well maybe he has some bad memories from when he was a little kid!. Bad childhood memories,from the past that still bothers him and he cant let go of them!. His family isnt comfortable with him going out and they prefer to get to know his friends a little bit more!. Meet eachothers family and assure them that he will be safe and have lots of fun!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
