I'm so confused... I think i need help?!

Question: I'm so confused... I think i need help?
So. I know I'm depressed. I'm 14, and I can't seem to make friends at any school I go to.. I think I may have anxiety disorder and depression. I don't know WHY i have either, I just am always sad, and I think it has to do with my parents spoiling my sister, and I've always been independent, my mom works and goes to school full time, and my parents are divorced *THAT DOESNT BOTHER ME* I used to cut, and have suicidal thoughts, and now I just can't shake this sad feeling.. I was in love with this kid at my old school and he broke my heart.. I won't go into detail about my other problems, but what would a therapist/counselor/physiologist do for me? What questions would they ask? And what should I expect from the first couple visits? What's the difference between the top three?

Well, ya don't want to go to a physiologist, they're scientists who study organisms or something like that. You want a therapist.

Basically, when you first go they'll probably give you a psych evaluation. They might give you a little quiz to fill out, and they'll ask you questions about your problems, how you deal with things, and all about your life, your family, friends and habits. They'll be getting to know you and figuring out what they need to do to help you.

Different therapists take different approaches to treatment, but they will listen to your problems and guide you towards figuring out the best way to deal. They might suggest family sessions if possible. They'll help you figure out coping skills that work for you. If they feel it's best they may suggest a psychiatrist, who may prescribe you medication. They'll help you feel like someone's on your side, and like you're not so alone.

If you're asking because you're scared to go, don't be. Going to a therapist is just like going to a doctor, but to fix your emotional problems instead of your physical ones. It will be well worth it.
