I started taking Zoloft in July 2007 for extreme depression, sever panic attacks, agoraphobia and anxiety. Literally within a matter of days I started feeling better and have been on it every day since and to me it is a miracle drug and it has made me be able to live my life. I would never switch off of it but that is just me maybe something will work better for if you had bad side effects from Zoloft. Luckily I haven't had any severe side effects. Good luck

Have been taking Zoloft for 4 years.

Sertraline (Zoloft) vs. Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

Bupropion SR and sertraline are similarly effective in the treatment of depression 16, 21.

Anxiety in major depressive disorder: Bupropion SR and sertraline have comparable antidepressant and anxiolytic effects and an equally rapid onset of clinically significant anxiolytic activity 22.
Tolerability: Bupropion SR and sertraline are similarly well tolerated 16.
Side effects: Nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and somnolence occurs significantly more wirh sertraline treatment than with bupropion SR. Dry mouth occurs more frequently with bupropion SR than with sertraline. Both medications are associated with similar decreases in body weight. Sertraline treatment is more often associated with sexual dysfunction compared with bupropion SR 16, 21. Bupropion SR may be a more appropriate antidepressant choice than sertraline in patients for whom sexual dysfunction is a concern.

wellbutrin is somewhat less likely to cause sexual side effects.

otherwise, it turns out that antidepressants are acting primarily thru placebo effect - google antidepressants placebo kirsch for the first widely publicized research on this. the drug companies manipulated the data to make their pills look more effective than they are, and they also didn't publish the much more numerous studies they had conducted that showed their pills were no better than sugar pills (called "selective publication.") this information is becoming widely accepted - even AARP and Consumer reports are reporting this information as an important issue now. this is because irving kirsch's work has been replicated by many follow up studies by others in recent years.
