Have you ever dealt with Borderline Personality Disorder?!

Question: Have you ever dealt with Borderline Personality Disorder?
I was told today that it doesn't matter that my daughter has bipolar, that she has borderline personality disorder. I don't know anything - ANYTHING - about this. Can you help me? I don't want a link or to be thinking of media. I'd like to know of someone who's dealt with it, so I can a REAL idea of it.
If you know anyone with it or deal with it in some manner or another, would you please write me and help me understand it?

yes.
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of self-identity. Originally thought to be at the "borderline" of psychosis, people with BPD suffer from a disorder of emotion regulation. While less well known than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), BPD is more common, affecting 2 percent of adults, mostly young women.1 There is a high rate of self-injury without suicide intent, as well as a significant rate of suicide attempts and completed suicide in severe cases.2,3 Patients often need extensive mental health services, and account for 20 percent of psychiatric hospitalizations.4 Yet, with help, many improve over time and are eventually able to lead productive lives.

my brother has bipolar. i feel so bad for him. the get violent so be prepared and theny they get older it get's WORSE.

Personality disorder is subjective in diagnosis. No one can clearly depict what kind of disorder that the patient is suffering from.But.Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder described as a prolonged disturbance of personality function in a person (generally over the age of eighteen years, although it is also found in adolescents), characterized by depth and variability of moods.[n 1] The disorder typically involves unusual levels of instability in mood; black and white thinking, or splitting; the disorder often manifests itself in idealization and devaluation episodes, as well as chaotic and unstable interpersonal relationships, self-image, identity, and behavior.

I have my doubts about such a statement. True bipolar disorder usually responds to a mood stabiliser, like lithium, or lamictal, (bipolar type 1 may need antipsychotics as well) but BPD often doesn't, and there are other ways to determine what the correct diagnosis is ultimately more likely to be.

View http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.p… for much useful info on this topic, and things should be much clearer in your mind after reading that webpage.

You may well gain more personal insights by Googling: "chat rooms + forums; BPD + bipolar disorder" and asking there. Some are shown at: http://your-mental-health.weebly.com/c.h… and page X, and I suggest that you later read the more likely in full.

People with the disorder are said to have a thin emotional skin and often behave like 2-year-olds, throwing tantrums when some innocent word, gesture, facial expression or action by others sets off an emotional storm they cannot control. The attacks can be brutal, pushing away those they care most about. Then, when the storm subsides, they typically revert to being “sweet and wonderful,” as one family member put it.

i would say you should try to control it, like i use to say thank you to myself and built up to saying it to other people(yes i know that sounds crazy but it worked for me)

the only person i know with BPD is my 'aunt' summer, who is just a friend of the family, or rather used to be. all i can say is that you need to get it under control NOW because summer is ruining her kid's lives by bringing shady guys into their house, telling them vicious lies about their father, etc. it's awful.
not all cases are gonna be that bad, but i don't want anyone to have to deal with someone like summer. she used to be like my mom, and when she went crazy, i didn't have anyone left.

My mom has BPD. An amazing book about it is "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me." It has really helped me be patient with my mom's highs and lows. That's the key - patience. Therapy is also essential. Drugs are usually less successful. You've got a bumpy road ahead - I wish you the best.

Its a punk way of looking at things, over time you kinda get this definition of punk due to isolation, and its aboveness, feeling better then but maybe really far away from :/
