I have a bad memory and easily distracted?!

Question: I have a bad memory and easily distracted?
I have the worst memory. I always tell people some things and when they bring it up in the future I always tell them I don't remember telling you that.

And in class when the teacher talks, I always have a hard time concentrating on what hes teaching. Like I'll listen to the words he's saying but then I won't understand exactly what he's talking about. And sometimes when he's explaining something and says some particular words, I'll completely take it out of context and day dream about it but making it completely irrelevant. You could say I'm bored in class. But I do try my hardest trying to concentrate. But all I hear is words, with no sense of direction. And having the worst memory doesn't make it any better. Like well have a test and I'll wouldn't recall learning anything that's in the test.

So my question is, Is this rare? And is there any type of medicine, technique or what ever to help me contentrate on what people are saying and better my memory?

I would talk to a doctor about your symptoms. It sounds familiar to Attention Deficit Disorder, but I am in no way qualified to give you a diagnosis. These symptoms could be to something else entirely, including lack of sleep, depression, stress, or just a plain lack of interest in school, and these are not the only things to consider. Most likely, its from something very manageable.

If it is Attention Deficit Disorder there are medications that act as stimulants on your nervous system and in a very basic sense trick your body into feeling more interested in whatever it is your doing than you normally would. There are possible side effects, and if abused the medication is habit forming.

I have ADD and have been dealing with it for over two decades.

Sounds like a case of ADHD.
