..Video games, drugs/alcohol, sex, food or whatever cannot/will not in the long run, help or cure ones depression..Yes, one can avoid it for a little while, but it is still underlying and not going anywhere..What one manages to do while doing any of these things for to long, especially if one becomes addicted, is to pile up one more reason, one more problem, that will in the end, make us feel even more depressed..One must first deal with and treat depression as they would deal with any other physical medical problem they would have..One deals with this by first going to the doctor for a proper diagnosis, by taking the correct medication and/or anti-depressant for ones self, if this is needed, by possibly changing our life styles, and by taking more healthy, positive action and of course by eating and exercising right..If one can play a video game in moderation and is fully aware this is not a cure or treatment for depression, then one can fit this into ones agenda along with the other actions that need to also be taken to insure one will have a quality of life that is enjoyable, healthy, balanced and suitable for ones self and ones life..

Video games won't relieve depression because they don't involve you focusing on the issues that are making you depressed. Gaming, just like drugs, drink, gambling, spending or any other activities that pull you away from reality are all just avoidance mechanisms. You don't actually fix anything, you just stop thinking about it for a time. As soon as you stop gaming you will still have all of the same thoughts and you will still have all of the same problems.

The only true solutions to depression are confrontation (of the problems) and change (of routine, of habit, of thought processes, etc). You may well need professional assistance in order to confront your issues and to find better ways to cope with them. You may even need medication to assist you.

Gaming will solve nothing. It may pass time and stop you feeling like hell while you're playing, but avoidance just prolongs the issue.

No Absolutely not Noooo as much as I love playing video games, 'now let me refrase that' (Addicted) to playing them when I eventualy tear myself away and hit the sack the mind just carries on drives me insane so i feel even more depressed and thats even thoug' I'me on meds.
Since I became a selfemployed gardener out in the fresh air with nature and even got time after to have a quick blast on the games cant remember the last time I was on a real downer,so thats the best relief get out go for a run get on yer bike got to the gym exersise is the best releif for depression But not a cure "sorry"

Sort of. I have no job right now and will be joining the military soon but without gaming I feel really empty and lost. It gives you drive, dopamine, adrenaline and so many other highs. It's a great thing.

Gaming gives you a reward sensation and helps you feel like your an alpha male. It's a good feeling.

Me

I used to think I had to face my problems head-on, before I realized I had no problems except for mindless stress, and all I needed was to relax. So I played some games and had fun, and I felt better. So.

No. Go out and meet people, get some exercise and eat properly.
