My mom's boyfriend chews with his mouth open and talks SO LOUDLY, I can!

Question: My mom's boyfriend chews with his mouth open and talks SO LOUDLY, I can't stand it?
What should I do?

I've always been really sensitive to noises. When I was little, my parents used to think I was autistic because I was so sensitive. Something would fall and crash and I'd be so upset for hours, I couldn't see fireworks, I hated when we'd go see bands with school...

Now I'm older I'm over that pretty much. I mean, I still hate loud stuff (except I can handle music), and if the smoke alarm goes off I usually have to sit outside for the 10 minutes or so it takes to contact the alarm system company and have it shut down, but I still have super sensitive hearing.

So when he's SHOUTING WHILE HE TALKS or smacking his food while he eats, it really bothers me. I usually just go eat dinner in my room because I feel so frustrated when he's chewing... When I'm trying to sleep and they're in their room, I usually have to close their door AND my door so I can get to sleep.

Basically he's never going to stop. He needs his hearing checked and he's gotten louder and louder in the 4 years they've been dating, but he doesn't notice and it would obviously be rude to tell him. I feel rude enough leaving at dinner or closing their door.

When I go off to university, which really isn't that far away, I'm going to have to deal with a roommate who may snore or talk on the phone while I'm trying to sleep, or there could be a party near me... I just need to learn to deal. How?

reminds me of my dog, lol.

You sound like my sister. Get some earplugs, play some music, and avoid him.

Do you have earplugs? Or noise canceling headphones, I have some of those, and I can drown out noises that bother me.
