Energy Drinks help Depression?!

Question: Energy Drinks help Depression?
Now I'm not positive I even have depression, but my symptoms seem to point in that direction. Lack of concentration, fatigue, loss of interest in activities, digestive problems. But when I drink an energy drink, I become very focused, energetic (duh) but not hyper, and it does seem like maybe digestion improves a little. I was just wondering if energy drinks could help depression, or other related disorders, cause most of the drinks do have massive amounts of b12 and has some L-Carnitine which both help produce serotonin. What do you guys think?

Be careful, or you may develop a dependence on them. They contain caffeine, which can be addictive (and dangerous in the amounts they put in these drinks!) Maybe you could try buying some vitamins or something. They'll last longer and are much safer.

However, if you have any emotional reasons for your depression, you should also get those worked out through therapy.

What are massive amounts of vitamin B-12? A working dose is 1 mg and you can get them as sublingual pills. Another ingredient maybe taurine (seen in Red Bull) which could be helpful
but not in combination with high caffeine. Taurine is an amino acid which is quick working and you can buy it as a stand alone pill. What about the idea for a probiotic against digestion problems?
Did you ever visited a doctor in order to check thyroids as a possible reason for fatigue all day ?
Low thyroid hormones fake depression, especially low T3 . The problem is that everybody may have a real clinical depression and hypothyroidism at the same time and doctors will face the problem to sort what is causing what. A simple energizer without much side effects is gingko biloba which can be used as an add on till the reasons for your depression are detected and a method for removing depression is found.

You aren't the only one.
Energy drinks like Rockstar [which has the best formula for this] are beneficial to depression, though the high sugar content isn't so good for you. I use the diet versions of Rockstar. The B vitamines and amino acids, plus the mild stimulant, do improve focus and mood. They won't do much for a severe depression, but they certainly help. I have a friend suffering from severe depression and taking a lot of medications; his psychiatrist actually advised him to drink Rockstar to give him a little boost, when he needs it.

i agree, if it works for you stick with it, just try to lay off of them every once in a while. moreso for your health. but even moreso, so that when u drink another one the buzz will be better. even the ones without sugar arent so bad. the monster blue is delicious, gives u good energy, and is healthy cuz it doesnt hav sugar in it.

and if you relaly want to stick it up the coffee drinkers asses hand them the site: http://www.energyfiend.com. which basically lists out the caffeine content of all the drinks in america with starbucks having 160mg per 8oz and energy drinks like redbull and monster coming in at only 80mg per 9oz. so the URBAN MYTH THAT ENERGY DRINKS HAVE MORE CAFFEINE THAN COFFEE IS WRONG!

Serotonin.can help with stress and relieve depression on some people but I would check with a local mental health center.
