How can I know if my depression is causing my insomnia, or if the insomnia'!


Question: How can I know if my depression is causing my insomnia, or if the insomnia's causing the depression?
Basically I've been depressed for about a year , and during that time i've been struggling to sleep at night and generally managing to sleep at around 10am, .then sleeping for like 16 hours, then being awake for like 30 hours, and it kinda continues in that cycle.


And because it's happened around the same time, I have no idea if i cant sleep because of depression, or I'm depressed because I can't sleep.

How do I know?

I've had problems with hitting myself ever since I was a child. It's a very difficult thing to get rid of, and you'll probably have to get therapy for it. Don't listen to the idiots who tell you you can just stop on your own instantly.

First, you'll have to learn to love yourself, which can be very difficult.

thats an interesting question, i guess it kind of depends on your personality, if youre an active person. then most likely your depression has nothing to do with your insomnia, cause some of us that are active even under little to no sleep, get energized by it almost or getting somewhat manic in a way.

but im also pretty sure that getting no sleep can leave you depressed or without energy in that same kind of way for some people, depends on how u look at it, or what type of person you are.

i agree on what do u dwell on part too. cuz if you dwell on the insomnia, that is whats causing you youre depression.

depression can also cause insomnia because when youre in a bad mood, or when youre not active and out and talking with people, you in general dont sleep well, becuz your mind isnt active enough.



Ask yourself, what do you dwell on most; your sadness? or your insomnia?
I recommend you see a mental health professional soon.

what is vitally important is to choose your healing route- for this problem ----- carefully from good information—that means knowing druggs/meds treatment for this can/will be damaging to your mind and body .drugs only mask the symptoms they do not cure.

1,get someone to massage your back and legs at least 3 times a week use peanut oil or a mix of 50-50 olive and peanut oil.

A total cure however is tied up with karma so you can imagine just how important is the voluntary work. The more u do the better u will feel .
