Question: Why do people constantly put themselves through things for attention? eg. depression?
I mean seriously, I'v seen so many 'i'm depressed' or

'I think I might have depression' questions, that end up being along the lines of "Give me attention, i'm not going to fix my problems, but you can sure as hell waste your time trying to make me feel better"

Answers:

Because we live in a time where person-to-person conversation is overrated and we feel more comfortable "talking" to total strangers from halfway across the world about our deepest fears and darkest secrets. We obviously want some kind of online pity party and I'm guilty of it too. I guess if we read someone's comment and feel better though, it's sort of, kind of worhwhile. But it does get annoying to read so many people whining about their lives. And again, I'm guilty of it too.

You may want to be careful what you say! It might strike YOU next!

I know that hypochondria leads to depression/anxiety but depression/anxiety does not necessarily lead to hypochondria! Some folks aren't faking it as you implied!

Most depressed folks cannot 'fix' it themselves...if they could, they would not have gotten that way in the first place!

Now you may be one of those people who lead 'charmed' lives while they are still living but heaven help him them when they die!

May God help you!

experience; knowledge enough to not belittle a person for being sick!

It's not a waste of time. Not everyone is fortunate enough to get the love and support they need in their real lives so they go looking for it in places like this. It's probably why they are depressed in the first place, because they don't have that. They just need to know someone cares and they aren't alone. You can't imagine how a few nice words from a stranger can mean so much to someone that is depressed.

I haven't heard of anyone 'faking' depression, but I don't know why you would want to be depressed, it's awful.

Medically prescribed severe clinical depression

They do that because that is one of the signs of depression.

Clinically depressed and still consulting my psychiatrist.
