What are some OCD habbits? And how to get over it?!

Question: What are some OCD habbits? And how to get over it?
I have this repeat thing, I tend to repeat a lot of my actions like triple lock the door, redo my hair, open and close doors, fold my clothes, iron my clothes, wash myself. etc. I feel like i'm not doing it right. My mother is worse. She cleans the house repeatedly and if something is out of line she must fix it. Always has clean wipes with her etc. I know I have a problem and I want to know if you've suffered through it or knew anyone who has. How did they get over it?

OCD is a strategy for coping with anxiety.

Have you ever tried to stop your repeat thing? If so, you will know that you become anxious. You likely find that your OCD increases if you are feeling bad or under stress. You do your repeat thing like a ritual that almost magically reduces anxiety or fends it off. The problem is that it has draw backs. It can be inconvenient to keep repeating the thing and your repetetive behaviour is also liable to cause you anxiety. Hence your question.

Maybe you do not find your own OCD too bad. Maybe you can live with it reasonably okay. If so that is fine. However if you want to try and change the best therapy is CBT. This will help you to unravel the meaning of your OCD and offer you alternative ways of dealing with you anxiety and stress.

There is a free download her that I recommend where it says Obsessional Compulsions

sorry to say but u cant just stop yourself. my bro has it and you need to get a doctor.

people who do the following may have ocd:
--repeatedly check things, perhaps dozens of times, before feeling secure enough to go to sleep or leave the house. Is the stove off? Is the door locked? Is the alarm set?
--fear they will harm others. Example: A man's car hits a pothole on a city street and he fears it was actually a body.
--feel dirty and contaminated. Example: A woman is fearful of touching her baby because she might contaminate the child.
--constantly arrange and order things. Example: A child can't go to sleep unless he lines up all his shoes correctly.
--are excessively concerned with body imperfections -- insist on numerous plastic surgeries, or spend many, many hours a day body-building.
--are ruled by numbers, believing that certain numbers represent good and others represent evil.
--are excessively concerned with sin or blasphemy.

ocd varies from case to case. there are many different medicines that can be prescribed by a doctor that can help. i have a minor case of ocd involving needing things to be a certain way. it is rather easy to live with and only causes minor frustration, so i havent seen a doctor for it. from what you have said, it definitely seems like ocd, and there are various talk therapies as well as medicine for ocd. see a doctor and they can help you.
