Well, in my opinion you have a right to be leery. I don't like psychiatrists. The last time I went to one, I told him the anxiety med I'd been on for about a year prescribed by my GP and he said "oh, no...I want you to take this and that instead." Right off the bat. After an hour of disagreeing on everything, we decided he wasn't the best one for me to talk to so my med didn't change and I didn't go back. LOL I also was put on Depakote for something and it made me suicidal. I'm not saying that you shouldn't try what the psychiatrist is recommending, but just take note of any side effects you have. Hope you feel better!

i have taken depakote and it does work on depression. read your information that comes with your medication. it states "...and as also directed for other illnesses. i took it for years for depression but had to stop taking it due to the fact that i gained way to much weight on it and had some hair loss. but it did help me sleep. seroquel also helps with depression and with sleep issues. i would suggest that you take the meds. they are both excellent for your situation.

been there.

Tell her and tell her that you feel that the Lexapro is effective and that you don't wish to switch off of it.

I am a psychologist, not a psychiatrist, but I do feel that new psychiatrists on a case are far too hasty to switch prescriptions, sometimes.

It is your mind and your body. Object, if you feel uncomfortable.
