what's better? you tell me..?!

Question: What's better? you tell me..?
laying down and quietly dying in your own home from hunger or going out and intentionally getting arrested

suddenly cell doesn't seem so bad ... so what you're in a room bored as hell for hours .. you're safe, warm and you get that one precious thing called food, because criminals seem to be better fed nowadays than people on the job market (based on my experience)

these are my 2 options .. my only 2 options

tried and still trying to get a job but my situation makes that impossible now, even if i did i'd have to wait at least a month for money, and since it's the weekend i can't do anything with the job centre until monday and even if it was monday i'm trapped in some limbo between housing benifits and council tax that makes it impossible for me to see money from them for at least 3 - 4 weeks

but then if i get locked up it would get me a criminal record and then trying to find legit work will no longer be an option since i have a pretty colourful record from when i was a teen. i admit i made alot of mistakes back then but i don't EVER remember being so hungry i had to scour the streets for half eaten food on the floor.

... what now? .. f***ed if i do, f***ed if i don't

also (because there's always 1) ... NO i don't have ANY friends or ANY family .. no one can help, i don't get along with the people in my block and what i wrote in the beginning are literally ... LITERALLY (and yes i've not only spent hours but days thinking about nothing but this) my ONLY options, i haven't eaten well in months and sometimes i have to go for days without. back's against the wall here

Why have you posted this from the USA site? That is going to get you some very confusing answers.

You need to look on Google for your nearest Welfare Rights Officer. They will be able to to help you more than anybody else. Do NOT get yourself arrested.

It is rather confusing that you can't afford basic food but you can afford the internet, though.

Don't get arrested, that's stupid and you WILL regret it.
First of all, if you are paying for this monthly internet connection, stop.
Pawn all of your reasonably valuable items.
Go to the homeless shelter or food bank, tell then you NEED to eat.
If you have any habits: smoking, drinking, give it up immediately.
You must be willing to work anywhere. Have you tried something disgusting like working at a junkyard or sweeping poo or collecting trash or anything?
Go door to door. Serious, tell them you need food, anything will help. Ask them if they need any odd jobs done.
You'll find a way, just gotta get through this.

well, then theres panhandling. it actually makes pretty good money in the right places. like upwards of $1000 a day on a main street. specially if you look like **** and are good at whining. or if you dont feel like begging, offer to work for someplace that sells food (like subway or a bakery) and ask for day old bread instead of money.

Are there not homeless shelters in your area?

I know that in my town, which is quite affluent, we have several food kitchens.
You can get a good meal there, no questions asked.
No one will judge you and the food can be pretty good.

Churches will take anyone in, usually. You don't have to be religious to take advantage of that...

Hi hon:

I can hear the desperation in your question and want you to know that I know what you are feeling.
I was there once myself and I am now scratching and clawing my way back. Please do not think I am preaching to you, just offering my input.
There comes a time in everyones life when they need help, you just have to ask..I know that is harder than it sounds as I thought I could do it on my own too and my pride would not let me seek out the help that I now know is readily available. I lived for weeks on just coffee and cigs.
One day a girl I used to work with stopped by to visit. She asked me if I wanted to go out for lunch. I told her that I had just eaten and she said well come on and we'll just go for a coffee. When we got there she ordered sandwiches and coffee. She commented on my weight loss and appearance which of course I did not realize. When we left she did not head to my house and I asked her where we were going and she said the food bank. I was very embarassed but touched as well that she would help me. She found for me too the number for social services and I made an appointment.
I am sure those services are available in your area too and I know it may be hard but swallow your pride and accept the help you need.
I would not recommend going to jail, it is not quite as glamourous as you may think. Sure you will get fed but there are other aspects which are not as pleasant, being bullied and perhaps beaten up and as you say your life when you would get out would be much worse than you are experiencing now. There would be the stigma of having a criminal record.
Please get the help that is available. I am still frequenting the food bank in the area that I now live as I have no friends here but I also volunteer there so I feel like I am giving something back.
Take care and know that there are people who care and want to help.

Use your internet while you have it to help in locating agencies that can help you. No one should judge you for having the internet while in your situation. It is a great tool for you to communicate with and not feel so isolated.
