Being bi-polar is like a rollercoaster in the way that the emotions go up and down alot but what ppl don't realise is that normally they stay the same for weeks or months at a time. There are mood disorders that involve shorter periods of depression and mania though but I don't think you fit that profile either.

For instance depression is very different to feeling sad. depression can happen even if life is great and no reason for being so down. ppl often can't sleep or sleep too much, don't eat or over eat, don't wash or get dressed, stay in bed, cry alot, feel suicidal or self loathing, might self harm or drink alcohol etc. They tend to become withdrawn and don't communicate very well. they can have all the symptoms of stress too like headaches and pain, insomnia, hair falling out, dry skin etc etc.

The manic side involves uncontrollable behaviour. talking too much and fast, getting into trouble for behaviour - lack of responsibility, sexually adventurous, spending too much money - leading to debt, doing things even if they know it'll hurt ppl around them. All very extreme really.

Being a teenager is hard. It involves alot of emotions and changes in hormones will make your mood vary. Go with it for now and just try to do the things that make you feel good at the time. don't beat yourself up if you're abit down - it happens to everyone. It does get easier and all your friends will be experiencing similar issues. See if there's some kind of guidance or counselling service at school - talking is always a great way of offloading emotions and helping to feel better.

Take care xx

If U were bi polar you would have to be up & down for at least 6 months. There are also a # of personality disorders that could also be the cause, especially since U are so young. 1 thing I think you need to look at 1st. Do U obsess over what is happening to U now? If so, U might be causing your own problems. I do think U should at least talk to a counselor at school & see about getting tested by a psychologist.
I'm bi polar & used to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. For days my mind, & body would race so fast I couldn't keep up. Then I would be so down I didn't want to get out of bed. Medicine helps bipolar, The PTSD was something I had to work on with a therapist. (Both were going on when I was young but I wasn't diagnosed because I wouldn't cooperate with the therapist my parents took me to.)
Good luck.

i would say no cause im the same age and i do the same thing. ummm i would say singes are when you go from one Extreme to the other .... like your reallllyyyyy happppyyy than like a few minutes later you wanna kill someone ... i don't know if that's right but us teens (lol) have a lot of hormones and crap so i think your fine.

It's possible that you're bi-polar. But, since your emotions shift quickly, you could have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder).
