What are some healthy ways to deal with stress AND depression?!

Question: What are some healthy ways to deal with stress AND depression?
I emphasise 'and' because I deal with wayyyyy too much stress and I'm cronically (suicidal point) depressed. I have trying really hard to deal with my depression because no one but my boyfriend takes me seriously about it. I'm on anti-depressants but they don't seem to be working. During times of great stress, which triggers the suicidal thoughts, I have been trying to distract myself. I don't want to compulsive eat because I don't feel like buying a whole new wardobe. Cutting is totally out because it's over rated and I have beautiful skin. So I've been compulsive shopping - mostly for clothes since I don't have that much to begin with. It got so bad, I'm in the hole for nearly 900 dollars and my checking account closed itself after paypal tried 3 times to get money. I promised myself I'd stop but it's so hard. When I get a new package, I feel special... even if I'm the one who paid for it. I can't excersise much because of weak joints and asthma and talking doesn't always work - I usually just want to cry and that doesn't help either; it makes things worse emotionally. Here's a kicker: when stressed out, a nice spot from my endometrosis that sits on my bladder gives me intense pain and I'm nearly out of pain killers that my doctors refuse to put me back on... due to age, addiction rate, and they think I'm going to sell it... geesh.

Please actually try to help and don't be rude.

Answers:

Ponstan/mefenamic acid is the recommended treatment for endometriosis, or it was last time i checked. It's a strong, strong anti-inflammatory and it's totally non-addictive. due to the heavy side effects, I don't think anybody would want to take it for longer than they needed it anyway! Ask for it from your doc.

Good form of exercise for you would be swimming in a heated pool. I think the warm moist air is actually better for you and its low impact. Addictions are never the solution for mental problems, or so I try to tell myself every day. You're not alone though. Maybe joining a shopaholic's recovery group/discussion forum would help?

you should go to doctor immediately.

There's a very simple stress reduction method -- breath control. The first part of it is to sit comfortably for 15 minutes and breathe slowly and deeply. Breathe with your belly so that you can control each breath. Slowly take a breath to fill your lungs, then let it out twice as slowly. Do that for 15 minutes in the morning and again at night. The second part is to breathe slowly whenever you feel tense. Be aware of shallow breathing -- how you sit, the tightness of your clothes. A very good way to learn about breathing is a therapy program that started in the U.K. called MBCT. If you look at their web site, you'll see the support it has from clinical studies.

It would be great if you could exercise. I don't know how feasible that is in your case, but I would definitely find out if there's a way. You can find other methods in The Depression Cure by Dr. Stephen Ilardi, a therapist who works with depressed people and a researcher who has studied the relationship between lifestyle, mood, and brain physiology.

Exercise is good. If you have weak joints, try swimming which is very easy on the joints.

Set goals for yourself and when you accomplish them, you will feel better about yourself.

I can't really help you with the spending part, I have a gambling addiction so it would be hypocritical of me to give advice. But it reminds me of a joke. A man walks into his doctor's office and lifts his arm above his head. He says "Doc, it hurts when I lift my arm", the doctor replies "Then don't do that!".

do you know the one who commits suicide goes directly to hell, so don't even think of that road, can you sustain the pain of burning your finger for only one minute, think eternity?

Watch the following video, are the people in this video seem depressed or they seem grateful for what THE CREATOR has given them. Watch them and compare yourself to them.

But most importantly, see u loose interest in life or become depressed when there is no correct motivational factor for u, if there's one, you don't live a life of depression but are energetic and charged up to work for that goal. I would advise you following(if trying something unique and different is not odd for you):

Listen to this song, this takes u in a totally different dimension, but listen and watch both, and then think about what the purpose of our life should be and is yours on that course, once you have understood clearly (thru this song, the movie and the stories below) what the purpose of life is then you will not feel bored or depressed but motivated to do something for it.

When done, watch the following it is not based on fiction, but real events, this went on to change the course of the world that we live in today.

Also if you like reading stories, which are both real and educative, here try the following site. These people (even though some of them were very young) faced trials and persecution, but emerged as successful ones(praises to THE CREATOR ALONE for that), and made history, wrote new chapters in the books of ethics and morality, reached to the top, yet were very humble but strict, the rich and strong would be threatened by them but the weak and poor will feel secure.
