I told my friend that I have depression and now she is really weird around me.?!

Question: I told my friend that I have depression and now she is really weird around me.?
I most probably have depression, I have not been diagnosed or anything, but all signs point to yes.

I've been told (on here) that a good thing to do is talk about to my friends and get help from professionals. So I told one of my friends and she's been treating me really weirdly.

For example, I went to a birthday party for a best friend this weekend, and she was there. I try to bury how I really feel and put on a smile when I go out. She kept on coming up to me and just saying hi and looking me in the eyes as if to see if I am sad. Then she says can I talk to you and I say ok, we walk off and she starts talking to me and asking strange questions like if I cut myself. And then she just says 'no I don't want to know' and walks off. And other situations but there hard to explain.
Shes just been completely weird around me as if I've changed, but I'm still the same person. Nothing has actually changed since I told her.
I think she doesn't want to be my friend anymore.

What should I do?

Answers:

She's now worried that you will kill yourself and somehow it will be her fault so she is watching you like a hawk. She does not feel qualified to treat your depression - and indeed she is not. Please go to a professional to be assessed, it is too much of a burden to put on your friend.

It seems as though she is worried about you. She probably doesn't understand depression that well. She might think you are going to kill yourself.
Just tell her not to worry about you that much.

Wait are you sure that you have depression?
Take this screening quiz, if you score high I would recommend seeing a doctor.

im sorry to hear that. sometimes people can get the wrong impression. just try to clear it up with her a bit, telling her its not THAT kind of depression. and that should help it. thx hope i helped.
