Why have i stopped feeling emotion?!

Question: Why have i stopped feeling emotion?
I used to feel emotions, happiness, sadness, anger, love. i don't know when exactly i stopped feeling emotions but slowly overtime i have noticed a decline in the intensity of emotion. I recently realized that i feel very little to no emotion at all. Every time I have seen my grandpa at the hospital i never felt sad. I attributed this to never actually being that close to him. Recently I found out that my mom has picks disease and is on the downhill from the disease and will probably lose all function and die soon. I cried when i learned this but there was honestly no emotional pain (no sadness no grief) to go along with it. I did cry though. I then examined myself only to find that for some reason i have literally stopped caring about things. I just do things...just because. I have no real emotion for them. I used to LOVE basketball, now i just play it... just because. I still kind of care about people and their emotions but i don't really feel anything for them, like ill listen to peoples problems and give them advice and try to help them but i really honestly don't care about their problems; like i don't feel sad for them, i don't feel bad for them i just try to help them i guess. Also i feel absolutely no emotional connection to my friends. I mean I have lots of friends but i have no close friends. People consider me to be their best friend but i feel nothing in return for them. Like i want to care but i just cant/don't. However i still am a relatively nice person and still have a good social life. Is this normal?
If its not normal then :
Is this okay? What should I do? Why did this happen? How could this have possibly come about?

You could be experiencing Depersonalization or Depression. Search on google and have a read about Depersonalization it's more common than you think.

Lack of emotion is a symptom of schizophrenia.
You should seek help else where.

i think you should go talk with a councelor or chaiatrist.

seek help please

You either lack empathy or you're clinically depressed.

Hugh Laurie of House M.D. realised he was clinically depressed when he felt NEITHER fright nor excitement while driving around explosive crashes. He sought help from psychoanalysts.

You may want to gather more experiences, observe and jot down your reactions in situations you think you're supposed to feel a certain kind of emotion.

You may also want to consider reading self-help books, like, Cheerfulness as a Life Power by Orison Swertt Marden.

i've had the same thing happen to me. its called depression. it seems your depression may be more intense than other peoples but that still doesn't mean that you cant be helped. talk to your doctor/psychiatrist or a closer friend. just try to get some help. and yes its totally normal for these kinds of things to happen, people get stuck in ruts and need something different to get them out. try doing something different than your regular old schedule, like take a day and do something spontaneous and random.

me =) hope i helped!

These type of sadness is usually sign of sadness or depression. In your case this seems sign of sadness more than depression. First you should learn difference about sadness and depressions I can suggest on article for that http://lucentlive.com/difference-between-sadness-and-depression/.
If you are suffering from depression it's serious and should consult doctor you can read more about depression here http://lucentlive.com/what-is-depression/ but if you are sad nothing to worry and you can have some vacation with your girlfriend or wife. She may help you to have your emotions back.
