Can people with Borderline personality disorder actually be suicidal and really !

Question: Can people with Borderline personality disorder actually be suicidal and really want to die?
I was diagnosed with BPD and I've been suicidal. I've wanted to die.. I've attempted suicide with the intention of dying.. not living and getting attention.. But I read a lot of negative things regarding Borderline Personality disorder.. They really make it sound like people want this diagnosis, like they like the attention ? Can someone explain it to me better please.. I have wanted to die, not get attention. Getting attention never crossed my mind. But are some people with BPD really suicidal or not ?

Is BPD a serious illness or not ?

Someone who is borderline certainly can have suicidal intentions and actions. The disorder is regrettably meaningful and is not about getting attention. Most people who are borderline get primarily negative attention, which is no picnic.

BPD is a serious disorder and I couldn't imagine why anybody would want to have it or would want it for the purpose of seeking attention. Left untreated with the right medications, an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer those with BPD many times do become suicidal. BPD is caused by trauma or traumas during childhood that the child's mind was unable to deal with in healthy ways and was unable to learn how to deal with emotions. There are specific therapies for those with BPD. You can learn with therapies and medications how to lead a happy and normal life. You cannot live a normal life without the terrible ups and downs that come with it. There is a great book written "Get Me Out of Here" that describes the recovery of a woman with BPD. If your psychiatrist isn't giving you the right help and treatment you have to see another one who will help you.

Yes, I have ask this question "What is this disorder?" And they said it's basically fear of being lonely (as far as I know). Like let's say you have a friend and he/she intends to leave you and not be your friend anymore and your reaction is very dramatic as if you won't live without your friend! That's how I knew it. And yes I think the person I asked said the one with this disorder can be suicidal, I just can't believe you're one of them, and actually here asking this question.
