I'm getting panic attacks where I can't even leave the house, please h!

Question: I'm getting panic attacks where I can't even leave the house, please help?
I'm only ok when I'm home and as soon as I leave my house and drive I begin to panic. It's getting to the point where I can't live my life normally anymore. I've already went home from work like 4 times. The doctor prescribed me Xanax but when I take it I only panic more cause I'm afraid that the Xanax will cause a bad side effect. What can I do? I'm in tears right now, I feel like I'm losing my mind. is there hope?

Get counseling to get to the root of the cause of your anxiety. When you figure out the cause you can then make adjustments. Be honest with yourself when making your assessments and if you realize that your job is what's causing the attacks be brave enough to seek other employment. Your health is most important!

take your meds. you will prop have to take them for a while, but you will feel better, ok so you have agorapobia with anxiety, that means your scared to have a panic attack, so you avoid the places you have had them before, write down :a jornal and everytime you have an attack what it felt like what happened before it, and everytime you get worried write it down it really helped me...you will not lose you mind, i have anxiety , it used to be bad i still get it sometimes but i learnt how to deal with it, so you should learn your own way with the help of a mental health person,, if you wanna message me do some onlyone1147@hotmail.com, im 21 female:)

You need to see a behavior therapist. She will gradually help you come over you fear by first learning how to make yourself relax. After that then she will help you to overcome you fears.

Antidepressants do not work for everyone. Besides even if it does work, therapy should still be used. The best treatment is always therapy.

I wonder if you also have phobias that you need to deal with. Like claustrophobia which also needs to be addressed.

You've got some anxiety issues. The side effects are like, 0.0000001 in 1000. Doctors studied things like this for 10 years. Trust your doctor.
